Cedar Point: September 14, 2002

So I have this friend that apparently has a really REALLY cool aunt that chartered a bus to Cedar Point, and let her nephew invite a bunch of friends (which was four). So it was me, my friend, this other guy, and this guy. Also, there were a whole bunch of this women's neighbors and stuff, whatever, that's not important. The bus arrived at home (meaning Cedar Point, that's what I call it now) at about 11:15. We waited about 15 minutes, then went in. One of the people I was with said that he need a coaster that went upside first just to warm him up. So we were going to do Raptor, but the line was too long. Plus, the Mantis isn't exactly one of my favorite coasters (understatement), so we hit Corkscrew. We sat towards the back, fun ride, everybody knows, let's go on...I then wanted to hit Magnum XL-200, so we walked over there, past the construction.

The conscrution site looked really cool, because there was this giant "gut" or big "gap" that looked as if that may be where the top hat is going (but I don't think so). It is just south of where Troika used to stand. It looked really cool except for the fact that they cut down A LOT of trees.

Anyway, we get the Magnum entrance, and I'm the only one that wants to go on it. So obviously, I'm overruled, and we go to the Coaster that is above 40 feet, the Gemini. Once we're in the station, somebody puked in the train that I was about to bored, and we had to wait for a little bit. But then, I was looking at the train that was sitting in the breaks, and in the front row was Eric Minton! Actually what happened was the guy next to me was saying that "the guy sitting the front row over there" has an online newsletter, The Loop. I immediately jumped and said, oh, you mean Eric Minton! Wow! I suscribe to Amusement Today, and he pretty much writes the entire thing! Not bad for a 15 year old, huh? So we do Gemini, were second from back, nice ride, let's go on.

Then we decided to do Cedar Creek Mine Ride. So we went over there, and they were putting a third train on, and that it would be about 15-20 min. So me and my friends went over to the arcade, played some games, then we went and got back in line in front of the Mine Ride. After about a half hour, I said that we should go, turned around, took one step, and then the gates opened. So I turned around, took some more steps, and then sat down on the mine ride. Once again, nice ride, moving on.

We then decided to split up. I was the only one who decided to do Millenium Force (I don't know why, it's the best coaster in the world), so the three other guys went to Mantis and I got in line for Millenium Force. 1 hour and fifteen minutes later, I was boarding. I wanted to sit in the back, but the line seemed kind of long, so I got fourth from back. But then I noticed that there was only one person sitting in the back, so I went and joined him. Now here's thing about Millenium Force. I have been on it five times, and each time, I remember more and more of the ride. It's really weird. Like the first time, all I remember is the first drop, the tunnels, the second hill, and the last banking. For the rest of it I was just pretty much out. But this time, I remember the whole 2 minutes and 49 seconds, the whole 6,595 feet of Intamin. Once again, this is the best ride to EVER drop on the face of this earth. Now, let's move on.

We split up into two and now I was only with one of my friends. We ate lunch at Hofbrau, and decided to hit Raptor. The line said that it was 1/2 hour, but we got in and out in 13 minutes. That's great ride (my #4).

Then we hit Blue Streak. Not much to say about that except that I had bought my picture on Raptor and I was holding on tight, but I also like to put my hands up. So I was holding on with one hand, and had my other hand up in the air. That was funny.

Then we decided to split up because my friend didn't want to do Wicked Twister and Disaster Transport, so I went over there and he stayed around the Main Midway. So I went over, put my sunglasses and my picture from Raptor in a locker, and hit Wicked Twister. Now this was my 5th time on that too, and I think that the feeling is going away. It didn't seem as thrilling as it was on opening day when everybody around the ride would clap the train would return to the station for the 5th time. But it's still my number two.

Then I hit Dispatch Master Transport. The cool thing was that they're setting up for Halloweekends, and they're using the building for an Egypt thing. So the que line was rerouted way down by the end of the building. That was interesting being in a different que than normal. Once again, great thrill ride, a lot more darkness added, but also a lot more lightness added too, so it's great.

Then, at 5:00 I met my friend at the Wicked Twister entrance, and that's when it began to rain. So we tried to make it to Iron Dragon in time but it had already closed down. We ended up going to the main arcade for a while but then I got bored. So I went outside and wasted six dollars trying to win a Siderman doll. The end result is that I didn't get one. So we went over and got some ice cream, and then we went to the Ice Cream Parlour and got more ice cream. Man, I guess it really makes you gain weight when it rains at the point!

Anyway, we started to walk around a little bit, and we ended up in Camp Snoopy, and then to the Jr. Gemini Children's Area. By then the storm was gone, and some kiddie rides were starting to open. So since it was the only coaster open, we got in line for Jr. Gemini. Now, I haven't been on this ride for 7 years, and I thought that I would hit it again. But then, the ride broke down and we left the line. So since we were in the area, we went on the Peanuts 500 in Camp Snoopy. What a fun ride! Actually, you do get a little bit of a push when you're turning those curves there! But while were were on the ride. But then, while we were on the ride, we noticed that Gemini had opened. So we went to that one next. And...same as before.

So then we were going to get the C.P. & L.E. Railroad, but friend HAD to try to win a zippo that took up five seconds, making us five seconds late. So we dashed down the Frontier Trail, and hopped on Iron Dragon, and we sat in the back. The cool thing was they were over-misting it. It was amazing. From the Gemini/Magnum Midway, we were standing 15 feet away from the fence, and we STILL had a foggy view! It was awesome!

Then, we were going to do Wildcat, but it wasn't running full yet. So we went over to Raptor and got towards the front. It was starting to get dark now and it was about 7:30. So we were walking around a little bit and then we went to Hot Potatoe and got some french fries, which ended up being my dinner. So after that, I went back to my locker to get my picture from Raptor and my sunglasses. Unfortunately, I had chosen a top shelf, and the water soaked through and got my picture all wet. I was pretty upset, but I wasn't going to let that ruin my 11th visit to Cedar Point, America's Roller Coast!

So you didn't ride Magnum (the best coaster in the park IMHO). Thats wrong! (j/k) I try to hit Magnum about 15 times each visit and still ride everything else more than 5 times. Oh well it sounds like you had alot of fun though. Cedar Point rocks.

No, I didn't bring a camera. Plus I don't have a scanner. But the construction really does look A LOT different than last time I was there (6/20).

I love CP so much. Yea maggie is great. I used to hate it but now I appreciate its painful, yet heavenly airtime. I still like MF more though.
