Well it looks like I am now going to Cedar Point instead of Kings Island this summer! Anyways, we are probably staying at a Cedar Point Resort and I have a couple of questions...
If you stay at the resort, do you enter the park a special way or do you enter by the front gate?
Do you park directly outside your resort or is their a special parking lot somewhere?
Are they any lake activites or things to do outside of the amusement park itself?
Any other tips for Cedar Point and the Resorts...
Thanks:)
I've stayed at Breakers twice, but have had friends do Sandcastle as well as the Breakers Express right off the peninsula.
You have four entrances to the park, and all guests are welcome to use them (though those staying off-site will have a bit of a haul to get to the three other entrances).
The main resort entrance is near the water park, on the North end of Breakers (it's the closest entrance to Sandcastle as well) which will have you coming in by Magnum. You have a less-used entrance to the south of Breakers (close to Disaster Transport -- and now to Wicked Twister). The third entrance is at the West side of the park, by the park's marina. You will notice that the marina entrance is the closest to Millennium Force.
Anyway, since resort guests get to go in a half-hour early to tackle Wicked Twister and Millennium Force, you probably don't have to do what we did (take the free resort shuttle that goes from Breakers to the Marina -- doing this got us onto the first passenger Milly ride of the day btw). Check with the hotel to see if only the main Breakers entrance will be open early for resort guests.
And, yes, you park inside. You'll pay the parking fee at the gate, then travel three-quarters of the park clockwise until you get to the Sandcastle and Breakers area. If you plan on staying in the cabins or in the campground, you'll run past there earlier.
As for what else is there to do, well, I have to admit, coming from Florida the last thing on my mind is the chilly Erie beaches, so beyond some time at the covered Breakers pool we were in the parks. But, I'm fairly sure that there are some boating excursions and the like to mix things up. Hopefully someone has more on that.
Enjoy it! I know you will.
If you don't stay on CP property, I recommend staying away from the Day Inn Cedar Point Mall on Milan Rd. I had a bad experience there. I had a reservation, but my car broke down right before I left. We called to ask if we could cancel or transfer to the next night. The woman we spoke to said she would cancel the room and not charge our credit card. We thanked her and proceeded on our merry way. We arrived the next day and left the park around 2pm to have lunch at ChiChi's (which I highly recommend!) which happened to be next door to the Days Inn. We decided to go over just to make sure everything had been taken care of. It hadn't. To make a longer story short, the manager on duty said that we were being charged for the room and basically called me a liar for insisting that the person I had spoken to the day before would tell me that my room was cancelled. She was extremely rude about the whole thing. We ended up having to sleep in our car in the Steak and Shake parking lot the next night because we couldn't afford otherwise. I know it's kind of off the resort subject, but just FYI.
On a happier note, make sure to ride MF at night...it's amazing!

A fun thing we did last year was to take a ferry over to South Bass Island. They have a lot of shops and restaurants. You can rent bikes and golf carts to explore with. Perry's Monument was neat to go up in, it gave a great view. It's supposed to be a party scene at night, but we were there during the day.
We did Put-In-Bay (South Bass Island) as well last year. I had gone there quite often as a kid because my parents used to have a street race there twice a year. That place in my opinion has changed for the worst. I took my wife there expecting a great place for a romantic getaway. It has turned into the Fort Lauterdale of Lake Erie. I think every college kid in Ohio was spending their summer vacation there. Even during the day it was a wild orgy of college fun. Women were flashing people, guys were urinating in public and this was during the day. I hate to see what that place is like at night now. If you have kids this is definately not an island for them to visit.

LOL! I have never been "attacked" by the mayflies or muffleheads. Of course, mosquitos are pretty much the same everywhere.
