Cedar Point Question

Every Time Someone asks a questin about who will get the next B&M Flyer or H:XLC or 4th dimension......SOMEONE HAS TO SAY CEDAR POINT!!!! CEDAR POINT IS NOT GETTING EVERY SINGLE COASTER THAT COMES AROUND JUST STOP IT. My homepark of SFGADV is great and I love it when we get new coasters but come on. SHARE THE WEALTH. CEDAR POINT DOESN'T DESERVE TO GET THE NEW COASTER EVRY SINGLE YEAR!!! GIMME A BREAK. Don't get me wrong Im sure Cedar Point is great and I don't mean to bash the park or anything. But people stop being so selfish. It just really makes me mad. Ok? Thank you hehe
Ok.  A park is a big business.  Us general public can't take things personally alright?
It is true, Cedar Point wil not get every type of coaster and does not deserve every coaster, but neither does SFMM or SFGAdv or etc.. It is not CP's fault, they want to keep bringing in the customers, and they do that by adding coasters. For more profit, they have to expand. Also, many people think that your home park of SFGAdv does not deserve any more coasters either, they have about 12? or 13? coasters at the moment. SFGAdv could also share the wealth. I would love it if the smaller parks would get more coasters also. Like Holiday World, Kennywood even though they have a fair share, and Lake Compounce, and how about Knoebels. This thread has no purpose at all except to start fights and bickering. Think before you post, if your thoughts don't start a nice conversation then don't post. Parks can expand as much as they want and people are entitled to their own opinions. So you should not bash others for that because you're being just as bad as them.

Cedar Point, Magic Mountain, Great Adventure and SF Great America are huge parks that draw more than three million people every year. They've all got compeitors in their relative "neighborhood." New rides score crowds they need to have.

Without those crowds though, they can't build said rides. We've said time and time again that capital investment depends heavily on the return they get. Cedar Point can build a ride because it boosts the gate and puts people in their hotel rooms, so the ride is paid off quickly. You can't do that at smaller parks.

These aren't charities, they're businesses.

Thank YOU but I DONT MEAN TO BASH ANYONE
OK-- Cedar Point is voted #1 park very often for one simple reason: Thrills.  this park has built a reputation around their thrillrides and coasters, and more so for breaking world records and being innovative.  If you didn't notice, all of their coasters have "lasting" power to.  Take Magnum and Mean Streak for example, 2 older coasters that are still some of the best ones around.  So as far as this place having to 'share the wealth'....they shouldn't, they will continue to draw guests from all over the country how they always have, with thrills.  As for Great Adventure and Magic Mountain..SFGAdv is my home park, but I won't mind seeing QUALITY smaller parks within the chain getting newer stuff instead of these two for a year or two.  By quality, I mean places like Great Escape or Elitch Gardens, not junky-dumps like worlds of adventure.
Jeff, who is SFGAm's compeitors? Big Chief's? Kiddieland? Jeepers? Hillcrest? Little a-Merric-a? I think SFGAm is a strange phenomenon which doesn't happen often. Usually when a park has no competition, it is tiny. I'd hardly call those parks competition. To keep customers comming back, the only thing SF would have to do is keep the park in a halfway decent condition, not add a new coaster every few years (which, btw, I love that they do)

Six flags great america has location.  Its a golden spot of land they have, being close to chicago, milwaukee, ect.  I'm with jeff on this one too, its a business dude.  If you don't like the mom and pop store on the corner of the street, you go to the SUPER-WALMART!  Why?  They have more stuff.  Do they deserve that stuff?  It doesn't matter, they have it so more people come to their store.  It's that simple.
If I type in Gurnee, Illinoise at RCDB it lists 12 parks within 150 miles of SFGAm. YES, THOSE ARE DIRECT COMPETiTORS! Just because they may be the largest theme park in the area doesnt mean that they arent competing with Michigan Adventure, Indiana Beach and Big Chief's (all within that 150 mile radius).

In contrast, the closest park of ANY kind to Phoenix is 250 miles away (LAS VEGAS not really a theme park).

Some of you people in the east dont know how spoiled you are to have a different theme park every 100 miles or so. The COMPETITION between ALL of these parks only gets you more and more rides within reasonable distances.

Not only that, but you can inexpensively fly to a lot of places from Chicago, including Orlando.

I believe Great Adventure has gotten more than their share of great rides. If you need an example, look at the large expansion of 1999: three coasters, a new kiddie section, multiple flat rides etc. Oh yeah, you also got Nitro last year. You have no basis for your complaint.

If you have to figure out how to ride a coaster to be comfortable, then that's not a coaster worth riding.

Parks don't only compete with other parks.  They have a lot of competition from other forms of entertainment.  People have a lot of other choices of where to spend their time and money such as movies, malls(ugh), sports, sitting home and renting "Dude, Where's My Car" while picking your nose in your underwear.  I can't imagine how any of those things can even come close to the excitement of an amusement park but a lot of people feel differently.  I think I read someplace that shopping is the number one activity for a vacation.

everything's better with a banjo

and also it's who ever is willing to pay the money to get a new coaster, its not like B&M or Intamin is going to cedar point and going "Do you want a coaster?", they have to pay for it, it's up to the park if they want a new coaster, hence why cedar point gets a new one basically every year. SFGAdv is either in no need for a new coaster, or just doesn't want a new coaster.

Who cares if someone says CP is getting the next big ride. There are many over-zealous enthusiasts, let them have their fun.
SFGAm may not have any huge parks to compete with in their market, but they have several small parks + don't forget Wisconsin Dells, which is like the Orlando of waterparks, and also has 3 good wooden coasters and a handfull of other thrill rides (skycoaster kind of stuff).

They are not competing head to head, amusement park vs. amusement park, but rather "family entertainment complex" vs. amusement park.
