Cedar Point Parking Question

Ok, I have said this many times, but, I am going to Cedar Point in June. My question is about the parking. My parents will be dropping me and someone off, do we still have to pay the $8 for parking? If we tell the toll people that we are dropping us off, will they let us in? I think it is ridiculous to have to pay the $8 to get in if you are just dropping? Also, will they let you walk in through the parking booths? Or, do you have to drive in?

Calm down. You made your post 20 minutes before you responded to it yourself.

Its Cedar Point, which means someone that knows will answer your question.

You won't have to pay the 8 dollars to park if you are being dropped off. You will have to pay a toll of 50 cents and that's all. Just have the people driving you in tell the folks at the booth that they're dropping you off and they'll take good care of you. (btw.. I had this same question before the season started in '02!)

Sometimes they will have you pay the full parking fee and will refund it on your way out (minus the causeway toll).

Your parents shouldnt even have to pay the toll. They can drive down the causeway and just before reaching the toll and parking fee booth, you get out of the car.

The walk from the booth to the entrance is not that far.

Chitown, you're right...the walk isn't that far, especially when you compare that to the number of miles you will walk in a day at CP...one loop is, what, 2.5 miles?...

"Drop-Off – If you enter the parking lot to drop off a guest, you must pay the appropriate parking fee (including the toll charge) at the tollbooth. The parking fee portion will be refunded if you return to the tollbooth immediately and surrender your parking ticket from that day."

It's not fair that Cedar Point charges 0.50 for driving across the causeway, when you come up the chausee road.

0.50 Causway Toll

+ 7.50 Parking

= 8.00 Total

I always thought that the causeway was controlled by someone other than Cedar Point and that is why there is a 50 cent charge to cross it. I do realize that Cedar Point built it, but is it possible that they sold it to Sandusky and in order for Sandusky to maintain it they charge a 50 cent toll to cross it. Cedar Point may still own it and the 50 cent toll may still be used to maintain the causeway.

You could always go the back way in to the lot (a much longer drive but really neat nonetheless.)

Cedar Point owns the causeway. And about the drop-off, just tell the toll-booth attendant that you're going to the chausee and then turn into the parking lot. This is how I paid to park when I was in high school many years ago, and it still works.

Tambo and jkpark,

IF you are caught you could be charged with a crime... It's called..."Theft of Services" and is a misdemeanor under Ohio law. See Chapter 2913.02 of the Ohio Revised Codes.

That's true. The people working the tolls usually keep an eye on most of the cars that pass through and where they go.
