We were able to get rides on Iron Dragon, Wicked Twister, Gemini, Mean Streak, and Cedar Creek Mine Ride along with several other flat rides. I did not notice any downtime for Dragster. However, there was significant downtime for Maverick today. When I left Frontier Town (around 7:30) I had been informed by the ride ops that Maverick had been down in excess of 3 hours and they were uncertain if the ride would open again. The other notable rides that were unavailable were Wildcat and Maxair. Wildcat operated at some point in the morning and Maxair did not appear to operate at all today.
The park was clean and the employees were pleasant (after all it was opening day). The new Planet Snoopy area is nice for the kiddies. It just appears to be a Peanuts re-theming for the area. I cannot comment on the food stands in the park. I did not make any purchases in the park today.
We left the park and went to Matt & Chett's pizza place in Sandusky for lunch. The pizza was OK. It sure beats the hell out of the East Chicago Pizza Buffet.
In all it was a fun day at CP. *** Edited 5/11/2008 4:22:07 AM UTC by MotorCityCoasterFan*** *** Edited 5/11/2008 4:23:02 AM UTC by MotorCityCoasterFan***
Best. Pizza. Ever.
I've been working outside in my flower garden most of the day today, thinking to myself that this is coaster riding weather!
Sound like you had fun!

They pretty much ripped everything out of the area and replaced it. It's way more than just a re-theming.
Sounds like a good day. Above average downtime on some rides is to be expected on opening day.

Chet and Matt's was just "OK"?I can think of many pizza places that blow away Matt & Chett's.
(1) Jac & Do's - Findlay, OH, (2) Fricano's - Grand Haven, MI, (3) Pizzapopalis in Greektown - Detroit, MI, (4) Donato's Pizza - Huron and Solon, OH, (5) Pizza House - Ann Arbor, MI, (6) Main St. Pizza - Plymouth, MI, (7) LaRosa's Pizza - Cincinnati, OH, (8) Buddy's Pizza - multiple locations metro Detroit.
Matt & Chett's cannot hold a flame to any of those places...especially Jac & Do's. The order of pizza places listed is in no particular order, but I believe that Jac & Do's is the best.
Buddy's Pizza in the Suburbs of Detroit is the best in the Country. End of discussion. That is not from me, that is from Pizza Today magazine, and I would agree.
And for me to say something in Michigan is the best in the country, is like Osama saying something positive about the US. *** Edited 5/11/2008 12:52:04 PM UTC by 1EyedJack***
