It's one of those moments in which dramatic writing creates comedy. :D
Inequality will most certainly happen with The Singularity (if The Singularity happens, that is.) I think about cell phones, and iPads, and GPS's, and drone toys with cameras. Not everyone can afford those kinds of things.
I think of the movie A.I. Artificial Intelligence, starring Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law. The homeless, poor androids had to resort to the junkyard to find replacement limbs and parts. Some of those parts were compatible with their robot bodies, it they were lucky.
The Borg have always freaked me out. I don't want this new phase to be as debilitating to our individuality as the characters on Star Trek have been written. I don't think the human spirit will allow that kind of thing to happen though.
Sorry I went to crazy town. I read a lot about this, and most scientist, even the very famous ones, say that this is where we are headed. It's just very interesting to me.
