Cedar Point hotel help

I also recommend Thirsty Pony since it's decent food and right next to your hotel. You said you like Italian, but outside of an Olive Garden and Fazoli's (neither of which I count as real Italian food) I don't know of any places in Sandusky.

The thirsty pony has some good chicken wings.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

They have pretty good bar food overall, I really like their fried pickles.

Let's not forget the 120 Oz. tower of beer.

Did someone say tower of beer? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! ;)

How much is a beer inside the park? I'm betting it costs a lot.

Key word... "arguably". :)

Any chance that I get, Chet and Matt's is always on the agenda. It's worth a special trip, or leaving the park in the middle of the day, in my opinion.

There's a Mexican joint on the main road there near the mall. Forget the name, but it's right in front of, and shares a sign with, a cheapo motel... maybe an EconoLodge?

Anywho, it was very reasonably priced, big portions, and authentic (i.e. not Taco Bell or Chipotle) Mexican food made by real, live Mexicans.

Also, Heinekens were only $2.50, and I likes me some Heinekens on a hot day.

Hi

We went to dairy qween tonight, and we coulden't help but laugh. They had bottles of aquafina for $1. We were just at cedarpoint last week where they were $3.50 for the same size bottle.

I believe you're referring to Casa Real next to Econo Lodge and across from LaQuinta. Never been, but I've heard many good things.

Been to that Mexican place a couple times. It's very good and their service is crazy fast.

Casa Real is awesome. They earn bonus points for re-opening the bar when 30 or so Screamsters showed up at their door shortly after closing. :)

I believe an in-park beer is somewhere between $7-8. They do have Great Lakes Brew at the Garter this year though.

Got an e-mail today from Cedar Point Resorts & Hotels just to update me on the coasters available for early park entry.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same for other CBuzzers who have stayed at the park recently, but it includes Millennium Force, Maverick and Raptor. I'm even more excited now.

Good luck on Mav being operating for early entry. it may be on the LIST, but....

I think Dragging Iron may also open early...you know, for the little ones.

Tip .... Park back in the Soak City lot and enter the park thru the gate by Magnum. It is a shorter walk (run) back to Maverick. Do Maverick first. Turn right after the underpass, past Gemini to get to Maverick.

You should be able to get 2-3 rides on Maverick, then head to Millenium force for 1-2 rides before the General Park opening.

Will do! We are heading out around 3:00 or 4:00am Monday morning. We are aiming to get the early ride entry for both days. I will post a decent report when I get back and let coasterbuzz know how it went.

Here we go!

:)

If you go back next year there are some good places to eat in the Sandusky area. The locals swear by The Jolly Roger in Port Clinton for fried lake fish. It's about 10 miles west of Sandusky on Rt 2. It really is impressive. I worked there two years ago and I went there twice this year. As far as food in town I'm not a huge fan of the Thirsty Pony. Not a bad spot for a quick beer but if you try going after the park closes it will take forever to get your food. The wings aren't tiped either. A great place for breakfast or a late night snack is Dianna's Deli on 250. They are also open 24 hours. If you get a craving for Chinese food from waiting in line for Millenium Force (Panda Express) take a trip down 250 and go to Andy's China Dragon. Great food and Andy is hilarious.

Didn't you forget something, Watts?

As I mention in August in this thread, Chet and Matt's Pizza is amazing! It's my favorite pizza restaurant I ever been to. Many will attest to them being incredible.

Do you not agree?

I will attest to Dianna's Diner's deliciousness as well.

Jolly Roger is about half an hour from the park, so I'd never thought to recommend it to anyone, but I guess if you're going west on Rt. 2 anyway, yeah. The perch there is awesome, although not exactly cheap. Hush puppies are good too. They also get very, *very* busy at dinnertime during the summer, so we usually phone in our order ahead of time.

Edit: And I'm speaking as someone who doesn't normally eat fish. The breading and seasoning they use is great, though, so I like it.

Last edited by birdhombre,

Mmm, Chet and Matt's and Dianna's. Now I'm hungry for both chicken alfredo pizza and a monte cristo sandwich. :)

Ryans is also a good place to eat.

You mean Ryans Buffet out on 250? I was disappointed in it for breakfast last year, but it was better this year. Passed the bacon test, which it did NOT do last year!
