Cedar Point end of August

I think it was the gale force winds and flooding more so than the temperature.

And you'll come back to Ohio once Florida is under water.

They close stuff at 51 degrees? Also, 51 degrees? So glad I moved out of Ohio. Twice.

No, but 14 years after Magnum had those trains bump they still close nearly all the coasters for a passing shower over Toledo

Weather on Lake Erie was no joke today. All ferries to the islands were cancelled, and at the park the entire beach at Breakers was underwater. Apparently the pier at Lighthouse Point suffered some damage as well. The city of Port Clinton declared a state of emergency.

The Point just can't catch a break. Today was supposed to be the opening day (after a year-delay) of Snake River Expeditions; ironically on a day when actual boats were overturning in the marina.

Not a good day...some of those waves are what sunk the Edmund Fitzgerald. Which of course led to a great beer, but still.

... trends have really changed at the parks making it harder to predict best times to go. Now that we have Covid, it is a crap-shoot at best. There really is no way of knowing what the park will be like.

I keep meaning to write a mini-trip report, but this was our experience last weekend. I've been in this industry for decades now, and I am pretty good at predicting when to go and when stuff will be crowded, but it totally made no sense. Friday morning when people are working and schools are in session, the park should've been less busy. 90 minute wait for Steel Vengeance. Saturday, 80 degrees and beautiful, mid-day around 4pm the line was 20 minutes. That's peak time between meals when everyone should be riding. And it wasn't staffing differences between the two days, it was just weird people-flow.

Hi

Even pre-COVID, the May weekdays of the 90s and early 2000s I remember so well for walk ons and light crowds haven't been that way. Many of those days are now packed with school groups and other large group outings.

Little more of a problem than 51 degrees...

And an interminable song. Which is probably now stuck in my head for the next two days. Thanks.

(Also, those were the gales of November, not May. Thanks Gordon for allowing me to remember that detail.)

That's crazy. I've never seen it like that.
