Cedar Point commercials

Anyone else notice, and are annoyed by the fact that Cedar Point seems to always downplay its coasters in its advertisments? At least in the Pittsburgh area, TV commercials, radio spots, they all talk about the kids areas, the shows, then at the end they say "oh yea, we have Wicked Twister and some other rides"

I was just curious if anyone else is annoyed by this? They have the best, they don't seem to use it to attract people (I know more than a few locals that didn't even know Cedar Point had good coasters)

More people than coaster enthusiasts attend parks. Many people I know avoid CP because they have small children. Perhaps if they realized that there is more than just large coasters then they would come also. That is why CP advertises their kids rides. Actually, they I think they could do a lot more to emphasize the "family" nature of the park.

I don't think CP is really laid out for small children anyway. Their kids area is pretty small and doesn't seem to have the appeal that say Kennywood's or Six Flags does, and if you do have small children, well the park is massive to walk with friends, I couldn't imagine it with a stroller or a small child. Maybe I'm spoiled and biased cause of the extreme family nature of Kennywood, but CP just doesnt seem to have much family appeal at all

I have to say that CP would make a great place place for a family vacation. There's not much there that kids can't do with the exception of the larger coasters and rides. There are 4 kids areas (Camp Snoopy, Kiddy Kingdom, Peanuts Playground, and the area by Gemini), plenty of family rides, miniature golf, soak city, the beach, the shows - that's a lot. As far as size goes I think you're forgetting about the park for kids - Walt Disney World. It's huge. Each park is very large and millions of people drag their kids around there every year.

The commercial you're describing makes perfect marketing sense. As someone who lived in the Pittsburgh area for 24 of my 29 years, everyone there already knows that Cedar Point is a huge coaster park. So why not run a commercial to let people in the area know there is much more to it than that and you'll get families coming too.

I'm also not sure I get the same "extreme family nature" from Kennywood that you do. Sure it's a good place to spend a day with the family, but just about any amusement park is. I don't think Kennywood does anything really above and beyond what most other parks their size does to attract families.

Ok, I stand corrected
I think we will see even more family oriented type commercials from CP when Snoop Rocks on Ice is open.
