Cedar Point brought me back.

After going to PCW, and having an alright time on the rides, I had felt that my enthusiasm of coasters were starting to dwindle. I had stopped playing RCT, and posting stopped on this site... I was still looking at coaster pictures, but my geekdom knowledge about every damn thing built was starting to fade. I was like "meh, I guess I'm just growing up...

Then my buddy took me to Cedar Point, and I was resurrected/reborn as a coaster enthsiast nerd! Good god Cedar Point's coasters, although massively overrated are pure fun. All of em. I was having so much fun on magnum, MF, WT, Raptor (with numerous rerides) and even MS, corkscrew, and the "lesser" coasters. It does deserve #1 park.

This place is an enthusiasts mecca, and it made me love "them" again.

That's coo...same thing happened to me. However, my lapse was several years. Ghostrider and RCT got me interested again.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

I figured the country gravy you get on that chicken-fried steak from Denny's would have topped that list. Ah well, you're in charge, so cheese-on-a-stick it is!

BTW, glad to here about your decreased risk for prostate cancer, Jeff! :)

I've been losing my love for rollercoasters too. Just starting a few months ago.

I've been thinking to myself...whats the point of going up and down and around and around at high speeds? A few months ago it suddenly hit me. I went to sfdl and I still like them but not as much, and I'm not as obsessed as I used to be. I can't wait for my CP trip because I think it will make my coaster love "prosper and cherish" once again. I am just tired of the same coasters thats all. I can't wait for dragster...I hope its open!

It's called burn-out. Take some time off and the joy will return. Burn-out is precisely the reason I usually don't visit parks between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Does anyone else see the mistake in this quote? People that go to THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY might catch it. ;) Other, like CO, might have it go right over their head. :)

No Moosh, I'm sure TOSU has frats....but ever since Katzenmoyer, they've decided that you can't get a degree there unless you can spell "The"....the folks in Columbus didn't want us to be confused about ALL those *other* Ohio State universities....;)

gator's sig will not be operational today....we regret any inconvenience....
Actually Ohio University was established prior to Ohio State University and OU actually went to court and made OSU put THE in Front of Ohio State University. So it had nothing to do with Katz it had everything to do with the Bobcats.
So it's supposed to be "'Maybe some of the frats at The Ohio State have some...'" That doesn't make any sense!
Darn Bobcats...

And we all know that, around here, it is spelled T-E-H. As in "Taer teh danm thing down b4 it sinks omg lol wtf!!!111" ;)

Before this entire thread derails, I'll say that my interest in parks and coasters doesn't really fluctuate too much. However, my visitation of the parks has changed greatly. I used to be a season pass holder, but with the limited time I have available, I now try to visit other parks I haven't been to in a long time or ever (HW, BGW, IB). I think this actually makes me more interested in the industry - enjoying many different parks occasionally rather than one or two frequently.

I agree with you JimmyBob! I've been to sfdl 3 times already, usually I only go twice a YEAR. I always have fun, but my "OMG! I"M GOING TO AMUSEMENT PARK TODAY!! or OMG!! THERES SUPERMAN!!!!" isn't the case anymore. Its more just like a fun thing to do and I'm more relaxed when I go. Last year I could not even pass up going past Predator before Superman..Now it doesn't really matter lol

Believe me, I know the feeling. I just went to SFGAm on Sunday and didn't even mind not reriding a single ride or leaving at 7:20. And it was my first visit to the park this season!

I was in the same type of struggle last year, and one visit to IB changed my tune, however, this year, I can't make it to IB and my visit to SFMW was on a crummy day, I need something out of the ordinary, otherwise everything is kind bleh.

I remember back in the day when I would visit SFGAm once a year, twice tops, and the night before I would toss and turn the whole night because I was so excited. Now it's like any other night and I even sleep in in the morning so I don't get there until 11 sometimes. "What is the world coming to?," I think to myself, but then I think, in 2 years, when I finally turn 18, just two summers away, I'm going to hit so many new parks my head will spin, heck, I'll fly to Memphis and even go to Libertyland. I've already begun saving for that summer and I think I'll be blowing a load of cash, now, how am I gonna pay for college?

Warning: I do not think like the average person. My remarks have plenty of thought behind them. Take it for what it's worth, if you disagree, please, feel free to express it, but don't put me down because of it.

Looks like somebody didn't grow up in Big 10 football country...

Then again, if you grew up during the 80s, you might not know them as Ohio State anyway--but the name 'Ann Arbor Choke Specialists' might ring a bell.

SFGAM hard, I think that you should just get some season passes if you are going to be going to a lot of parks when you are 18. It would make things ALOT cheaper.

See I would do the same thing, but theres this thing called money. It's exchanged for goods and services. -Or so I hear. Us creatures called "university students" don't have this; nor have access to it! ;)

I really only have access to PCW, as the other parks are so damn far away -$$$

My suggestion for burnout has always been to bring new people with you. If someone gets really pumped up about something that normally wouldn't do it for you, it can really get you going.

The solution is never ever to travel further, ride more, bigger, faster rides. That will almost always end in anticipointment.

Another idea: Get another hobby. Spend sometime doing something that isn't coaster related and keep your mind on something that isn't a coaster.
