Cedar Point Billboard in Chicago

CP has put a Wicked Twister billboard on 294 north 4 miles south of O'hare. Bam! Take that six flags. I dont think I have even seen them advertise in Chicago before. Way to go CP! Tv commericals would be awesome.

Yea theres a Wicked Twister billbored here in Cincinnati on N-75 on the left side of the highway before Paddock road.

DaCoasterMan,

I kno, you aren't dissin my homepark, Six Flags Great America. Cedar point tries too hard to get up there in the amusement park spotlight, lol (i'm just kidding)

Was that statement really necessary?

Anyway, driving back from dropping my parents off at Midway airport I saw a CP billboard with Wicked Twister on it heading on Rte 55.

If they want to advertise in the Chicago area thats great. It really isnt that far of a drive if you make a couple days out of it.

I don't really see what it has to do with SF, but anyways that seems pretty far away to advertise but anything that will bring people in I guess.
Wow! I just saw it today on the way to Wisconsin. Nice.
Saw it five weeks ago on the way to an Arena Football game. It's weird how hard they try, Chicago's a good 5-6 hours away.

and i'll be leaving the windy city tomorrow for my first 5 day trip to the point...
In "World's Largest Amusement Park" or whatever that show was called, didn't they say they only advertise for about a 200 mile radius, and let reputation bring in the rest? Why suddenly change tactics?

You are right, the show did say that. I am not sure though why they have changed that.
It's one billboard. I'm sure Chicago is not seeing the massive TV blitz that markets closer to the park do. Maybe it'll get a few people that have never heard of CP to go check out the website and eventually maybe make a trip. I wouldn't call it a major shift in tactics.

Chicago is within 200 miles of Cedar Point, and so is Cincinnati.
I've seen CP billboards for 3 seasons straight in the Chicagoland area.

On Mapquest, it says Sandusky is 289.25 miles away. Last time I checked, 289 is greater than 200.

Maybe to expand their general customer base. From what I recall, I read that they had a bit of a low season attendence-wise in 2001. I also saw a CP billboard in Chicago last year along 294 near O'Hare though... HMMMM

Off to CP in August, first to IB in late June though!! YEA!!!! :-D It will be a good summer!

TrBiggar, while driving it may be 289 miles... Directly from one point to the other, it's under 200miles. Who care's anyway if they advertive in even Maine, or wherever. It doesn't matter. Being that they have the power to advertise, why not take advantage of it.

Trust me, there are a sufficient number of people in the Chicago area that know about Cedar Point...Kings Isalnd as well.

But I doubt many people know about any of the Six Flags parks outside of GAm, StL., Magaic Mountain and *maybe* (MAYBE) Georgia (and that's only if they have fam down south!)

They had one in the same spot last year with a picture of Mean Streak on it. For those looking for it, it is NB I-294 Milepost 35.
