Cedar Point announces 2008 HalloWeekends information

Posted | Contributed by Gemini

Cedar Point today announced several new additions to its annual HalloWeekends event, which kicks off September 12.

Perhaps the biggest new attraction is Terror Island, located on Millennium Force island. Guests on the island will travel through a quarter-mile wooded walkway set in a pirate theme.

The changes sound great. Doesn't anyone have a guess where and how guests will get on the island? Will it utilize PWE?

Yep... that will act as the queue. Corn Stalkers replaces Werewolf Canyon and will still use Thunder Canyon.
The webiste says that Terror Island will be on Gemini Midway near CarnEvil. Where does it say that it's going to be on Millenium Island?

That will be where the entrance is. Paddlewheel Excursions' entrance is on the Gemini midway, near Camp Snoopy (where CarnEvil will be located).
Didn't CarnEvil used to be over on the Beach Midway near Wicked Twister (or is my mind playing tricks on me)?

True. We moved several attractions this year to places that made more sense. This year, because of Planet Snoopy and Joe Cool Cafe, it was a good idea to make that a family-friendly area that was easy to get in and out of.

Boo Hill's new permanent home will allow us to open Dodgem for HW this year. Plus, Boo is quite awesome inside. I recommend a visit.

And no, I won't make a joke about your mind. :)

The Halloweekends site is one of the nicest and coolest flash websites I have seen. My guess is that Dave the robot will be hanging out in the Alien Cafe.

CarnEvil's old location sucked from the standpoint that it was too wide open and the wind off the lake was constantly blowing the fog away. It seems a little strange that they'd sacrifice Camp Snoopy in the evening, but then again the crowd thins out in there as the night goes on anyway.
The HW site is fantastic!

So is this in addition to the B&M dive machine? ;)

As a person who typically goes to Howl-O-Scream, Disney's Not So Scary Halloween party, and the near heart-attack-lawsuit of Universals Halloween Night, I have never been to a Cedar Point event and wondered how it measures up..

So far reading up the feelings are all over the spectrum from Jeff, who never seems to like anything (JUST KIDDING) to Zakkster who is calling it fantastic.

Just wondering if its worth the flight up to experience it.

Depends on the flight. ;)

I suspect Camp Snoopy would still be around if it weren't for Planet Snoopy up in the front of the park.

^^Ridemccoaster, nothing except perhaps Knotts Berry Farm is probably going to compare to the Florida Haunts from what I have read because unfortunately I haven't been yet. However, I can say that CP's and KI's Haunts were as good as BGE's haunt, if not better in some respects. Cedar Point knows how to put together fright zones, and the Fright Zone remains to this day the best Halloween Attraction I have ever been through.

The HW site is fantastic!

It's the same website Wonderland has used for 4 seasons.

Being they are the same company it makes sense they would use it at other parks.
Much better location this year for Carnevil!!! The old location, like Jeff said, was too open... you could see the scares coming your way. Camp Snoopy is much tighter and should fill up nicely with fog. The concept and characters are great, so Carnevil should be a big hit this year. Plus, the Gemini midway is nice and dark for Halloweekends, which should add to the frights walking up to the attractions...and then Terror Island is right next door. Should be a great autumn at CP.
Camp Snoopy seems like the perfect site for a CarnEvil transplant. It's much more linear, with all those niches for Screamsters to jump out of. Plus, as Jeff said, it's a good bit more sheltered from the lake breezes.
