I guess I wasn't payin' attention lately... I thought this may have been his first refrence to that.
Me thinks me must keep thoust eyes open... I know he had the tendency of bringing topics from the year 2000 back from the dead... and I knew he was a little "wacko"... but I didn't realize how wacko! ;)
Ummmm... what was this topic about again?
I wasn't saying anything is wrong with CP's color schemes, I actually really like them. I'm just saying they're really loud, and some would say...ugly. But in a good way. Mantis wouldn't exactly fit in at a park like BGW.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, but the person who came up with McDonald's: The Ride migth be on to something. For me, the red and yellow together without a "cooler" color to balance them out look a bit harsh. Maybe the white will help, maybe not. Mantis manages to pull this off with the blue thrown in.
As for the alternating red/white to enhance the notion of speed: if the consensus is even close to correct on what this baby will be doing at the end of the launch, visual cues to tell you you are going fast are a bit redundant, no?

It's not the colors that's going to make this ride suck. It's the layout.
Wow, some people just don't get it, do they?
Come on now, let's all judge books by their covers! This book is rectangular, I'm sure it's going to suck....

The LEAST thing that you can at least look forward to is that as SOON as it hits the bottom of the element, is that there's a few hundred feet of space for the coaster to travel BEFORE it hits the break, so at the very least, there will be some horizontal moments of the sensation of the speed earned from the velocity of a 420' free fall!!
It still will be a great ride, for as short as it will be...
...but fact is fact, I highly doubt it will rate in the top 10 steel coasters of '03 or '04 just because there are so many other great steel rides out there that offer such an exileriating experience. If the new Cedar Point coaster offered a few elements like a camel hump or two or three, then I'd bet the farm I'd be right up there on the top of everyone's list because you'd have a coaster that's the tallest & fastest, "scariest", and you'd get some air-time as well at nearly 100mph...
Still, as disappointed as I am in such a basic layout... I'm glad it's going up, and you can bet your pony that if I get my arse there next year, that'll be the ride I'm racing to first!
McDonalds: the Ride, everyone! Don't say I didn't warn anybody.
I guess, when you have as many rides as CP, you begin to start running out of colors after a while. :)
I mean, red, white and yellow is interesting enough, but they could do much worse. How about like... Geez, I can't think of anything for some reason.
I'm fairly sure, though, that colors will be inconsequential once people ride it. (Though, I must say, I do like Xcelerator's scheme.)

Well, M.F.M... if it's going to go accelerate an estimated 120mph in just a matter of like 3 seconds, and reach a max height of 420' in the air... it WILL be a good ride no matter what anyone says!!
Has there ever been a coaster at Cedar Point that hasn't been a good ride? ;)
Er... lemme re-phrase that... Has there every been a STEEL coaster at Cedar Point that hasn't been up to expectations??
...That's what I thought...
Dawgbyte II,
Maggie let me down a lot, so did Raptor. :(
All I know is I'm waiting for the announcement.... Can't we all?

I also agree that such a basic layout will be fun, but it won't be too likely to make many reputable top 10 lists either.
You guys can slag Brandon all day, but the fact of the matter is that a ride that's all about a launch and a huge hill is a novelty, not a top tier ride.
I don't blame CP for going that route because they already have the classic Hyper out and back design, and the twistier speed Giga, what else can you really do, especially when you're talking 400 feet plus? A full on twister would be impossible in under a mile or so of track, and the other two options are already done.
I am finally going to put my $0.02 in...
While I will ride anything that CP puts up, I must say, if the ride ends up being what we think it looks like now (L-TH-B) I will be, for lack of a better word, disappointed.
It will still be a thrilling ride - how could it not be with that launch and 400+ foot hill? But the fact is the ride, from our estimates now, will be way too short. I and many other people I know, both enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts, were hoping for something along the lines of Xcellerator "on steroids".
So to sum it up in a made-up word, I have a feeling of anticipointment. (Disappointed at what appears to not meet my anticipations.)

Thanks Great America!
IMHO, the thing will be awesome no matter what. We will have people who live and breathe by it (just because it is at CP), we will have people who say it sucks and what they SHOULD have added. And then there will be people, like me, who will ride it - add another track to their count and go get back in line for Milly. :)
Also CPNut (or whatever it is), if you were on RRC you sould have been Plonked! by now -- and by some of the butt chewings you got on here, I would think you have had the next best thing to a Plonk. Some people just don't get it.
DawgByte II said:...but fact is fact, I highly doubt it will rate in the top 10 steel coasters of '03 or '04...
Oh yes, it will. Why? Because it's at Cedar Point. That's the only reason.
- The Shy, can't believe CCMR isn't on the top 10 list too, One

I will say that yes, a L-TH-B would be a bit of a loss, however, it will still be great at the predicted height and spped. Short or not. I LOVE the up side of power tower, I get as big if not a bigger rush off that than I do MF! However, no rush compares to jumping out of a plane.
About the restaurant thing? Where they gonna put it since the toer is heading in the direction of a peak? Huh?
So What I think we all should do is instead of B' & Maonin' over this thing, let's just sit back, relax, watch the webcams, see what happens, and then after we all have hoped on for a spin place your opinions.....
And that my friends is what I think!

Ya wanna know what I think. Its still early. Looks CAN be decieving! I mean come on. Who says all the parts are even delivered yet.
Have you even looked at the latest construction photos? The pullout from the tophat connects to the brake run and then to a turnaround into the station...
