Cedar Point, 9/14/03 Crowds ...

Associated parks:
None

Were nowhere to be seen! Usually I won't write a CP report since its basically my homepark, but this one was a rather special day.

I was supposed to go with 3 others who all flaked out and no one else could go, so for the 4th time this year, I spent a day at CP by myself. While it sucks not having anyone to talk to, I've learned to make the best of it.

Today was made great by many factors. First one, there were definitely a lot of other people that were in my similar situation. I saw a lot of definitely "by themselves" people wandering around, so that made me feel less alone. I also saw a lot of foreign park shirts (an Enchanted Villiage in Dragster at about 3:45 was the furthest and oddest, along with a Desparado on Dragster) and heard a lot of "enthusiast speak". People on Magnum naming coasters for every letter of the alphabet, people at Raptor actually getting stats right on coasters in the park, etc. So although I didn't say anything to anyone, perhaps someone here saw me ...

Which brings me to my next good "people" thing. The ops were very friendly today, but my attire probably helped that. I was wearing my Pitt Panthers football jersey (number 80 if you might have seen me) and that made a lot of the ops from Pitt say hi and engage me in conversation. So, that helped to pass some of the time ...

Leading to the second to last point. No one was here! I've seen Cedar Point empty before, but this was rather ridiculous! The parking lot was maybe 6 rows out when I got there at about 10:45, and it didn't fill much past that. The midways were wide open, freeways were in no way needed, and there was no wait for anything, it was like having the park to myself, which since I was there by myself made for a great riding day ...

Bringing up the last point, the rides today were incredible! I don't know if it was the great anticipation I had for today (I've been craving CP for a few weeks now) or something was actually different, but every ride was just HAULING! Mantis was in a form I haven't seen it since the first times I rode it, Raptor gave Talon a run for its money when it was getting its butt kicked a couple of weeks ago when I rode Talon. Mean Streak was even great, Dragster was wonderful, Millie and Maggie rocked, Corkscrew was one of the best rides I've had on it ever, even Iron Dragon was fun today! And I got another front seat Dragster, and rode Wicked Twister 6 times. And the waits were non-existant - none to station for every ride but Millie and Dragster: 15 min. for regular Millie, 30 for front seat, 25 min. for regular Dragster, 50 for front seat.

Awesome, awesome day at CP, one of the best ever, and I even got some great new pictures and a video of Dragster and WT. I can't wait for Scream Team weekends ...

I was there today as well. It was rare for me to be there with friends as I am usually alone there too. I actually wished I was alone today as the park was so empty and the weather was so perfect. My friends did not want to ride as much as I did. so we left early. I also had a great ride on Iron Dragon today too.. and no mid coarse breaks on Raptor made for a great fast finale. Today was my 20th trip to CP this season and it brought my Dragster Laps up to 23. It was a picture perfect day at CP today.. I wish you all could have been there.. Aboulutely Amazing. :)

Only 6 rows out? WOW! And the weather wasn't even that bad yesterday from what it looked like on the webcams. I would like to know about Scream Team Weekends as well...

Scream Team is when they get groups to come up and work the haunted houses. Basically, my girlfriend goes and works for 3 days and I stay up there for 3 days and ride ;)

Thanks for the information. I thought it was some Cedar Point outing or trip. I guess you can't beat 3 days at CP with your girlfriend!

stljason - was a Sunday dude ;) But even for that, it was incredibly low. RoS - they rarely don't run 3 train op. Even Corkscrew runs 3 train op all the time.

2 train op on millie would sort of seem weird since there are 2 stations.

I don't get what you're saying dude - the popular coasters at CP that don't run all available trains 99% of the time are Mantis and Dragster - Mantis cause its 3rd train is off the tracks, Dragster cause for some reason, yellow has been out of commission most of the year. Corkscrew was running empty trains most of the day, and lots of empty seats on all 3 Raptor trains, both Mantis trains and the single Mean Streak and Gemini trains.
