Cedar Point 8/8-9/00

I just got back from spending two and a half days at Cedar Point. The first day that we got there we went in at 5:00 in order to get the Starlight admission. The first thing we rode was the Raptor, and I must say was the coolest thing I had ever been on, at least for a while. The zero-G barrel roll right after the first loop is the best inversion that I have ever been through. Next we rode the Blue Streak, and even though it is a classic ride it didn't thrill me very much. It was pretty much an older, shorter, and slower version of the Racer at Paramount's Kings Island, but it was a decent ride. We then went over to ride Disaster Transport which surprised me because I was not aware that it was a bobsled roller coaster, and the new experience was pretty cool. We then rode Demon Drop, but was not that impressed since I am used to riding Drop Zone at Paramount's Kings Island, which is abviously much taller than the Demon Drop, but the older style freefall rides are different and riding this was definitely an experience that I won't forget anytime soon. We then headed over and rode the Wildcat, which was definitely worth the wait. The drops and the speed made it all worth while. After that we walked across the midway and rode the Iron Dragon, which had some cool elements to it and was a lot longer than Top Gun at PKI.

By now it is almost completely dark and we decided to get in line for the Mantis. By the time we got on the ride it was completely dark, and we went soaring across over the lake for our first ride on the Mantis. It wasn't as good as Chang at Kentucky Kingdom, but it was still and incredible ride. We then headed back to find Mean Streak, but even with a map we couldn't find out how to get to it in the dark. So we settled for the Cedar Creek Mine Ride, which in my opinion was not anything special. There weren't any special effects that I noticed like PKI's Adventure Express.
Nice report. What I want to know is how you could resist going on MF your 1st day? That’s some will power :) The first time I went to CP this year I went straight to MF, ignoring everything else.
Resisting Millennium Force on the first day was not easy, but the line looked really long and we didn't think we would have enough time to ride anything else that day. We realized the next day that even though the line looked long, it really wasn't that long. It would have been worth any wait we had to go through though.

One thing that I forgot to mention about Cedar Point was their employees and their food. Their employees are by far the nicest that I've ever met at an amusement park. Not once during my stay there did I see an employee without a smile on their face and never once was I not treated well. The food there is also very good. The first night we were there we ate at Silver Dollar Cafe, right under the Raptor. When we sat down and looked at the menu I decided just to get a chicken fingers platter, which was $8.00. Being used to Paramount's Kings Island I expected to recieve a plate barely large enough to fill a toddler, but when I recieved my food I was amazed to find that it came on a 14 inch diameter plate, loaded with fries and 8-10 large chicken fingers. I was absolutely amazed. I wish other parks would be more like Cedar Point, with happy and courteous employees and good food with plenty of it for the money.
