Cedar Point 8/02/08-8/08/08

We decided to make a whole vacation out of Cedar Point, which is about 6.5 hours from my house (though with traffic it took 8). I'm not gonna recap the whole trip so I'll just give a rundown of all my thoughts.

There's a lot to do in Sandusky. Places like Goofy Golf (the do-everything deal is great, and you can substitute bumper boats for another go-kart race) take up time as well as Island Adventures, that haunted house place (we didn't go) or any of those indoor waterparks for a day (Kalahari looks like there is lots to do). And plenty of restaurants to eat at too.

Maverick was favorite ride of the trip. Ride hosts had lots of fun and were entertaining, line moved well, very few breakdowns, such a complete ride. And the front seat is incredible

Dragster was pretty reliable besides Sunday the third, the first ride of the trip (especially in the front) is just spectacular, after that it isn't as exciting as riding Maverick again.

Millennium used to be my favorite, this year it just didn't seem quite the same for me. Was broken down a lot, but that is not why it wasn't my favorite. Still love it.

Magnum is fun, I just don't like the painful quads after all that airtime. Its a shame the lapbars can't be more comfortable, then it would be a great ride.

Mean Streak in the back--never again. Ever. Even if you paid me 1,000,000 bucks. Well, maybe in that case...

We didn't even ride Corkscrew, Mine Ride, or Iron Dragon, didn't bother wasting time, and Disaster Transport is only worth waiting for about 2 minutes (which it never has), but...

We DID try Wildcat for the first time and I have to say, it was a fun ride! Very smooth through the drops.

Raptor was great, as always.

Sky Ride was hardly open, it was kind of strange.

Demon Drop was my first ride ever at Cedar Point, brought back memories.

Blue Streak is my favorite woodie there (over Gemini, which has become a little rough on the drops and the race is too predictable every time).

Mantis was fun in the front, but I like the back better.

Skyscraper was FANTASTIC! Definitely worth it if you have two people (buy one get one free).

Wicked Twister is underrated! Still a great ride, just tucked in the side of the park and not visible a lot of times to people who don't know about it.

Skyhawk and Maxair are both great rides. Had lots of fun with the short lines (and on Skyhawk sat in the same exact seat twice!)

Overall, a great trip, there were probably some other minor thoughts that I left out but its not important. My only regret was that we didn't go during Wheels of Thunder!

Good trip report, I also love Skyhawk and Maxair, but I think I prefer Maxair slightly more. Oh, and Gemini is not a wooden coaster, had to point that out.

The Millenium Force ride Ops: Squishing you where it counts since 2000. Track Record: 89 coasters
You're right, I always classify it as a woodie but its not. Just because of the wooden framing. Sorry about that. I hadn't rode Maxair until this year because I don't really like spinning, but it is a very good ride. Maybe if Skyhawk was longer it would be better, but Maxair (which is pretty long) is a better ride I guess.
