Maverick was a great addition to the park. It just proves why stats aren't everything. The ride is intense, fast, and just plain fun. The best part was the night ride, talk about the feeling of being out of control. The one hour wait was worth it. I'll take this over TTD anytime. (10/10)
Mean Streak sucked. The brakes on the first drop ruined it. It felt like a long coast that was both boring and painful. Knock this one down for a GCI or Gravity Group. (3/10)
Meanwhile I was keeping an eye on TTD as I had yet to see a train cycle.
Millennium Force was as great as usual. Smooth, fast ride worth an hour's wait. (10/10)
I then got in line for Mantis to see TTD cycling empty trains, and then full ones. Then Mantis broke down and seeing people being taken off on the lift gave me the hint the ride will be down for a while, and it was.
So after lunch it was Top Thrill Dragster. Waited an hour in doubt it will actually stay open. We got on and I realized something disappointing. TTD has breaks before the top hat. I'd rather have a slower launch than having to feel trims. Just after I got off and out into the midway a train rolled back and the ride didn't operate for another few hours. (8/10)
Raptor Is a great Invert but I HATE the on ride video. It's just kind of weird. Anyways great coaster. (9/10)
So here is my quick run through of the others. Magnum has gotten rough, but still delivers great airtime (8/10). Mantis reopened, and the ride has a great layout, but has slight hand banging (7/10). Disaster Transport broke down then reopened. It's alright I guess (6/10). Corkscrew broke down just after riding it. Dumb coaster (4/10). Gemini only operated one side for most of the day due to maintenance. Great head chopper (9/10). Wicked Twister is good as long as you sit near the ends (7/10).
Overall it was a fun day because I got on all the rides I wanted to despite many breakdowns. Here's the list from what I observed: Top Thrill Dragster (sporadic), Raptor (for a while), Iron Dragon (hour), Mantis (hour), Corkscrew (evening), Gemini (one side during evening), and Disaster Transport (short time).
The thing that got me was that TTD went down after the rollback for at least two hours. The wait was at least an hour. So some people probably waited an hour, just to wait another two for the ride to reopen. Talk about a waste of time especially when the wait was even less than an hour when the ride reopened. Imagine if the ride went down for the rest of the day? I would be upset if I waited for three hours for it to reopen and just learn it won't be operating. Oh well, it wasn't my group, we rode coasters as they waited.
TTD has breaks before the top hat.
I have never felt any type of brake on the top hat.
WHy would they have a brake there?
