I'll try and keep this one brief. Steph and I made our first trip to the park and had our passes processed. The new process is much better than the old, but it still involves too much paper handling. I've said it before... nobody does it better than PKI.

It had been raining on and off all day, but we didn't get there until about 4pm. The lot wasn't very full, but the bus lot was. Streams of kids headed for the gates when we got there, and that meant short waits!

We first did a quick lap around the park as many rides were just testing following a spot of lightning. Mine Ride looked like a good place to start. Classic, but I probably won't ride it again until October.

I noticed the new signs at the queue entrances, and make no mistake, they suck. If they're just there for the legal crap, fine, but please bring back the character signs.

Peaked in to see the end of the country show at Red Garter, and alas, Hot Country Hoochies make me put up with the music once again. There are always beautiful women at Cedar Point, but when you add talent, you've gotta stop and watch!

We ended up at Midway Market for dinner. Still the best bang for the buck in the park.

We then jumped on Raptor, where we had about 15 minutes in line. I'm always surprised at how much I like the ride, and how much it still gives me "that special feeling" in the gut. Of course, that back right seat always delivers. The crew hasn't settled into a tight groove yet, but they're already close with trains sitting in stand-by for not more than five to ten seconds. The new paint job looks fabulous, by the way. Contrary to crybabies claiming brake fouls, the ride is still fast in the second half.

From there we went to Magnum (and passed zero wait on Power Tower's space shots... that was stupid). Entering the empty queue we hooked up with Dan "Did You See Me on Discovery" Haverlock, who apparently didn't have inventory that day. To the ejector seat we went! Overall, the ride is much smoother than last year, though the pretzel seems to be getting a little worse. Strong winds held the ride back a little, but I'm sure there will be faster rides for other times.

We ended on Millennium Force. 45 minute wait. There's something I wasn't used to seeing. However, I was pretty pissed off when people began smoking all around me. If it's one person, I'll say something, but when you're a minority, you can't go there. Inconsiderate morons are one thing, but CP cops standing on the outskirts of the queue doing nothing with their thumbs up their asses are even more irritating. This is the same crap they did at the start of last year. Who has to give them a tongue lashing to do their jobs?

We sat in seat 2-2. As expected, the ride delivered! Lap 51 was a winner, and I again remembered how intense that speed in the low turns is. Good times, can't wait to get on it again.

Overall, the thing that impresses me most about the park is that every day is consistent with every other day when it comes to service, shows and rides. The park continues to set benchmarks. Looking forward to another season.

I was surprised at the amount of smoking in queues while at SFO and CP. I mean it happens at most parks I've been to but I guess the midwest is more smoke-happy then my neck of the woods.

What irritates me the most is when I see it in a short line. Come on, you can't go for 45 minutes without lighting up? Give me a break. Get the freakin' patch or some nicotine gum.

You absolutely can't beat the back seat of Raptor. I usually sit in the middle and have pretty decent rides, but last time blew me away! I pledge myself to never ride any other seat again after that. That thing pulls you straight over the top and jerks you through the inversions. I actually think the surprise of the back seat of Raptor on my last trip was better than MF. I was seriously scared trying to catch my breath before the next inversion. Some say Raptor is the worst of the B&M inverts but thats not saying much when the rest are some of the best rides ever too. I'll definitely have to ride Montu and Dueling Dragons that way when I go this summer.

Anyway, great TR as usual. Which seat on Magnum is the ejector? I know I haven't found it yet, so maybe you can help me out. I think I heard it was 1-3, but not positive. Maggie gives a nice back seat ride at night too. Kind of relaxing and makes you want to jump for joy at the sight...but you can't because you're on a roller coaster and if you did you would be ejected from the park in some way shape or form. I always give CP the biggest credit on ride safety but I wish they would be more attentive to smokers. A really nasty habit.

Yes, the ejector seat is 1-3. The reason is that the somewhat long wheel base of the car acts as a seesaw over the bunny hops at greater speed than the other cars. The hill acts as a fulcrum of sorts. When the front end of the car gets yanked downward over the hill, the back end pops up.

I'm sorry, but what does 1-3 mean. I always hear it but never understood. I thought it meant row one seat 3, but there is no seat 3 on magnum, it's 2 across. My only other guess is that it means car 1 row 3. Can someone help me out?
