Cedar Point 2007 Season Review...

So, since it has reached the end of the season, what is everyones review for this season compared to other seasons? Or just this season in general.

RIDE ON!

It's not over yet. Get back to me Monday.

Only had the Boo Buzz weekend and I have never been to the park when it was anywhere near that busy. Maverick was good but I was a little let down as it wasn't as good as I hoped, but I wasn't nearly as let down as I was with Thunderhead this year. Voyage was the only new coaster for me that surpassed my expectations...

How is this a "legal" topic? If you can do this, than there should be a topic about season reviews for Dorney Park, Busch Gardens Tampa, Busch Gardens Europe, CGAm, Carowinds, Epcot, Michigan's Adventure, Magic Kingdom, California Adventure, Disneyland, SFGAdv, SFOT, SFMM, SFStL, SFOG, and so on.
Then why don't you make those kind of threads? This is a coaster site about ALL amusement parks. *** Edited 10/27/2007 2:53:31 PM UTC by Parker17***

RIDE ON!

Spinout: why not? We do post-season retrospectives all the time around here: what the park did well, what we wish it did better, etc.

Have at it and start one! It might make the offseason a bit more interesting than it usually is around here.

But, as was mentioned, please actually wait until the offseason.

I thought the season was awesome, and I think I may just like Maverick better than Dragster. :)

For years I have only been visiting the park one time per year, but this year I went every chance I had and ended up going three times. Once in July, August, and then in September. All three times were busy as hell! I went on weekdays the first two times and did a Halloweekend in September. I love Cedar Point, but in the previous years, it had never been that busy for me. I still had fun, but I found myself leaving early the second time (which was in August and I guess even if it is a weekday, it's one of the busiest months). It seemed like all the big rides had waits 2 hours or more and Maverick was weaving throughout Frontierland endlessly...however in the three times I went, I did get to ride it 5 times, so I can't complain! The best time was when our train got stopped in the tunnel completely...very intense.

I also recall seeing someone wearing a "RIP Geauga Lake" shirt the time I went in September...wonder if that was anyone from here.

They really don't waste time cleaning up for the season, they're still people in the park and all the trash cans are already getting lined up.:(

I posted some closing thoughts in my weekend trip report, cleverly placed in the trip report forum.

Sneaky, Jeff. Real sneaky. ;)
I thought CP was great this year! Maverick was an excellent attraction to that park and really is a popular, solid ride.

The cons? The ride felt like crap the last few weeks. Vibrations were off the wall and it felt YEARS old. Did NOT age like a fine wine ;)

Im sure next year it will be back to it's new self... I hope!

I understand that Mav went through alot of wheels this year. I hope they can solve this problem as during ert I got off one train and onto another due to the extreme shaking in the back...

Ok... this is the first year I've missed Cedar Point since 2002, so I'm looking for a little input from a general perspective:

> How were overall crowds this year in July/August? Were there long lines, or virtual walk-on's on some of the rides?
> How well was reliability on Dragster? I noticed in '06, there was very little down-time, and I hope the trend continues so CP doesn't think the ride was a total waste because a lot of people still enjoy it.
> Is Maverick still running as good as it did during its first week? I heard from a worker there that they did change the wheels... how many times? A couple times per day? What kind of wheels is Intamin using... nylon?

Finally... should Cedar Point be rejoycing this season, or pleading? Prices are up, but is the attendance?

Somehow, my first trip to the park was in 2000... and I don't remember the park being as crowded as it was in 2000 vs. the later years I was there.

How well was reliability on Dragster?

TTD had its best season yet, finally reaching 1,000,000 riders in a season.

Is Maverick still running as good as it did during its first week?

Well, I can't attest to it's first week (my first ride was 2nd week), but it does seem more rough, especially in the rear of the train. From what I hear, it's a wheel issue.

By the look of the midways during Halloweekends this year, attendance should be pretty good.
