Cedar Point – Monday, July 14th

Associated parks:
None

Instead of buying my sister a dumb birthday card with a cliché rhyme I decided to surprise her with a trip to Sandusky for her 32nd birthday. I was particularly excited about this visit due to the fact that she had never encountered MF, TTD or Maverick!

We arrived at 2pm and parked under the 33E sign…which naturally means the parking lot was packed tighter than that fat girl from the Facts of Life in OTSRs.

Our first ride was the Raptor, which was billed as an 1 ¼ wait. I would have said “let’s do it later”, but it’s the sister's favorite ride.

After an hour of deafening speakers, the Raptor stairs greeted us with a “Raptor is down due to mechanical difficulties” announcement. I wanted to punch her in the face for making me wait this long, but I restrained. After ten minutes of downtime the problem was fixed and our front row ride was awesome as usually (before take off I asked the ride op whether or not the valleying rumor was true, he said it wasn’t).

TTD was next. I did nothing but say “Hands down, head back and hold on!” for sixty minutes. She wasn’t fond of that, but loved the ride so much she had to call her husband and gave a ride report.

We then made our way toward the back of the peninsula, stopping for a 10 minute wait-front row ride on Magnum, the best value in the park IMO!

After that it was a nap…I mean a ride on Mean Streak, an all too short ride on Skyhawk (still great though, 20 minute wait, Snake River Falls was packed!!) and an 11 dollar meal from Chick-fil-A.

The Maverick line was splurging out of the queue so Millennium Force was next; along with a 45 minute wait…and…she loved it. It was her favorite ride of the day…but Maverick was yet to come.

Next was Power Tower Down…and me screaming like a little girl. Then back to the Gemini where the brakes out of the station screwed over the blue train once again. After that…

A sunset trip on Maverick…an 1 ¼ wait and definitely worth every minute. My sister, however, wasn’t impressed!!! Are you kidding me??!? I decided I would throw her into Sandusky Bay on the way back to Cleveland.

Then, another quick stop on the Magnum for a night time ride. And no surprise, still the best ride in the park!

We decided to call it quits around 9:30pm. And she shared her soft pretzel...so I decided against tossing her into a body of water. *** Edited 7/15/2008 5:23:29 PM UTC by d_port_12E***

I wanted to go to Cedar Point for my first wedding anniversary, but my husband didn't want to do the travelling. Sounds like CP was packed as per usual lately. Does anyone know if it gets better in August?

No, it actually gets worse in August. Weekends should be "out of the question" and when I was there last August mid week, it was quite crowded.

The park hours pretty much tell you the story. Things do start to loosen up the last week or two of August, but gradually.

When I got to CP my first time (I worked there in the '05 season) after a 12 hour drive from NH, Maggie was the first coaster I rode. Boy, she STILL packs a nice little punch!

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

DIVORCE!!!

OhioStater, I considered it. Just kidding. ;) He knew I was bummed and has promised we're going to Great Adventure on Friday. And I'mn going to ride Ka!!!!!!!!! :(

I'm possibly heading to Cedar Point in August, so I hope that I'll get a nice day for it (if it looks like rain, that would be ideal). Not TOO concerned about lines because I've got a Plat. pass and will be able to visit the park for two or three days, but I'd like to do other parks as well, so I'm really hoping to get a few good rides in on one day. I think I'll be only doing rides that I haven't experienced similar versions of in other parks (I'll check out Mantis due to not having been on a standup, I'll do Millenium Force as my first 300 footer, etc).
