Cedar Point - June 18th. So close.......

My wife, 2 friends and I took our yearly CP trip on Wed, June 18th (and also hit SF:WoA on Thursday).

Well, first things first: We all went knowing that TTD would be down. Sure enough, when we arrived, all the signs were up stating that TTD "Would not be in operation today". Fair enough. All the trains where on the track, and every so often, we would see them launch a train. Wow. Seeing it in person is just incredible. Photos and videos just don't do it justice.

Around 5:30, we notice that the trains were getting launched around every 60 - 90 seconds, and three of the trains contained water dummies. Well, that's when I started to get my hopes up...

We trekked over to TTD to see a large line had already formed, hoping (as we were) that it would open soon. We sat and watched launch after launch, until around 6:20. We decided (unwisely, as it would turn out) to go over to Millennium Force and use our 6pm - 7pm Freeway stamp we'd gotten earlier in the day. Well, at the top of the first hill of MF, I looked over to see people entering the queue area of TTD. *DOH*.

We exited MF and made a dash for TTD. We got in line, and were told that we were about 90 minutes away from Dragster bliss. A HUGE line eventually formed, and I was thankful we got in when we did.

The line was moving very well, and it seemed as if a train was launching every minute.

Of course, it happened. TTD broke down. Long story short, we waited in line around another hour (until about 8:30), and decided to go. This was more a decision made by my friends (I was willing to wait). However, hunger and a necessary bathroom trip sealed the deal. If we had only waited around and skipped the lap on MF, we would have gotten to ride TTD. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20, blah blah blah. :)

I'm not sure what time it reopened (if ever) since we left around 9:30.

Oh course, the trip to CP was awesome, Dragster or not. We got 2 rides on MF, several rides on Magnum (love the ejector air!), a Raptor ride (no trims), plus laps on everything else.

As has been mentioned here before, Mean Streak has been trimmed to death. It's not as rough, but certainly not as thrilling as it's been past years.

The only black eye on the day was on Wicked Twister. My friend was not able to ride because of his size. The ride op was extremely rude about it. I got the op's name, and paid a visit to guest services. They said the person "would be talked to about their behavior".

Anyway, I guess it will be 365 more days before I get to ride TTD. I can't wait to return (as usual)!
