Cedar Fair ups quarterly cash distribution 5%

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cedar Fair announced Monday that quarterly cash distribution will be increased to $.44 per unit. That brings the annualized rate up to $1.76, up .12 from a year ago.

Read the press release.

That makes thier dividend yield approach 8%. Wow. Not many companies can claim that! Kinda beats the 2% money market rates that I'm getting.

If the prospects for the market weren't so bad for the next 1-2 years, I might even jump in. Unfortunately, cash is king right now!

I've been in for the long haul, and this is the only thing I think I've ever owned that hasn't let me down. The more I buy, the more cash I get every three months. I wouldn't go as far to say that the company can do no wrong, but they're so conservative that I have a hard time thinking they could.

YEA!

And, I was finally able to file my tax return because they put the K-1's online. That is the only drawback to owning Cedar Fair. It holds up my whole return.

Agreed. My accountant finds that irritating as well!

Hate to threadjack, but....

Do they have to report dividends on the K-1 due to thier Limited Partnership status, instead of 1099-DIV like a corporation? If so, seems like a strange accounting rule to me. And a bit of a pain in the butt.

Yes, because the company itself isn't taxed, it's passed through to the unit holders.
