Cedar Fair Starts New Agressive Advertising Campaign for The Point

Solution, dump all this advertising money into Dorney. All the extra revanue created by the huge crowds can go into new coasters that are close to me.
That's not how the company works. "Cedar Fair" isn't doing the advertising, Cedar Point is. The company operates as autonomous kingdoms and each park does what it wants. Sure, there are some corporate standards all parks follow, and budgets are still approved by the board, but each park does what they want. Geauga Lake and CP will likely be some kind of exception next year.

dragster freak,

i'm also a wv native (but live in KY now) & proud Marshall U. graduate. nice to have you on the site.

coasterqueentrn,

last season there was a cedar point billboard right next to the Capital/Airport exit heading west bound. just thought you might be interested. cp has been including the charleston metro area in their marketing area for several years now.

arlok2-
No Cedar Point advertising here in LA; yet. A bit of MM and Knott's ads, but that's about it for now. Last summer Knott's was advertising like you would not believe.

Agreed, I also enjoy CP a bit more than MM. Most people here though have never heard of Cedar Point. It's sad, really.

I would be suprised to see CP advertise out here. Although, anything is possible.

Why don't I ever see any good commercials.

Yes! Thanks Johnathan! I can't believe I forgot about that.

I remember that now, and I used to live off of that exit as well.....off of Greenbrier St.

I have seen commercials and print advertisements in Charleston and Huntington, but not many billboards. The billboard off the Marmet exit just stands out. :-)

I have also seen several brand new and very good-looking Camden Park billboards along I-64.

A good Intamin? You are going to have a tough time finding one of those. Ever heard of Maintenance Force, or Stand Still Statue? How about all the problems with Steel Venom and Wicked Twister. Give me a B&M or Arrow any day over an Intamin.

Trust me, if Talon is as good as I hear, and if you are close to SFGadv, you have some great B&Ms in your area. My favorite coaster at Cedar Point is an Arrow, and I love B&M. Enjoy your B&Ms, because I bet you they probably work, unlike far too many Intamins!

Bottom line... it works. Cedar Point just had a nice full-color flyer in the Chicago Tribune last weekend (mind you, Chicago's 300 miles west of Sandusky). While visiting a friend, I noticed his wife had pulled the flyer. She told me she and a friend had been wanting to go to WDW sometime, but that they didn't want to spend that kind of money just now. But on Sunday, she saw the flyer and decided a weekend at CP would do the trick. Bam. Advertising works.

Not to be mean but course the advertising works or else CP wouldn't keep wasting money on it.

Avalanche Sam, I was just wondering how many Intamin coasters you have been on and how many B&M coasters you have been on because that statement of yours is pretty harsh... Intamin coasters are fun but they never work... Well I would agree with you to a CERTAIN extent but not as far as you went. *** Edited 5/29/2004 7:50:00 PM UTC by Blink3020***

Don't Fight It, Ride It, RAGING BULL!!!!!!- Six Flags Great America

I have been on 3 B&Ms, and 5 Intamins. And I am one of those few that think Millennium Force is overrated! Fun ride (usually), but from an operational standpoint, poorly designed. When I think of rating rides, operations matters to me. And I only became a ride-op just this year.

EDIT: My favorite coaster is an Arrow, and although revolutionary, it is based on tried and true technology. Also, back on topic, it is good to hear the advertising is working. I don't mind the limited partners making lots of money.

Thanks, Jonathan and Tina for welcoming me here. I registered a long time ago, but really did not post very much. I watched for a long time because I really wanted to see how these boards operate so I didn't start out with some stupid or repetitive topics. I did not know that there was a billboard at the Capital/Airport exit. I will have to check it out the next time I am up that way. *** Edited 5/30/2004 4:33:25 PM UTC by Dragster Freak***

There isn't one there now (unless I am blind), but there is one near the Marmet Exit going westbound.

It's OK Dragster, I have seen a lot more repetitive and stupid posts than this one.

This may be a little off topic right now but it was mentioned earlier. As i read through the conversations i saw some people asking if Geauga Lake had any commercials going on. Well here in Pennsylvania (south of Pittsburgh) i see Geauga Lake commercials all the time. They are doin alot of advertising around this area as well as CP and of course Kennywood's lame new advertisements.

-And what's up with that crummy commerical for Geauga Lake with that family in the PT Cruiser going to the park? "Hi my name is Fun!"
I dont think i have seen that one. Maybe i have but don't recall. I do know however the Kennywood Ads are quite weird this year. I dont really like them much at all.
