Cedar Fair (NYSE: FUN), a leader in regional amusement parks, water parks and active entertainment, today announced Kelley Semmelroth as the Company's executive vice president and chief marketing officer – a newly created executive role.
"To ensure our marketing communications deliver breakthrough growth and our brands are elevated to compete in this ever-changing marketplace, we are adding additional marketing talent to our executive team," said Matt Ouimet, Cedar Fair's president and chief executive officer. I imagine Matt Ouimet gets a lot of phone calls these days from people he used to work with.
It's been stated here before, but I really like the direction that Ouimet is taking CF so far.
Hopefully Matt and Dick never occupy the same space, because they are like matter and antimatter.
I like what Matt's doing as well. There are definitely things to be said for promotion from within, but for top roles like this, I'm glad that Cedar Fair is getting former Disney people. If anyone knows how to maximize profits, market, and run a clean, functioning park, it's Disney*.
