Several top executives received their new contracts with the company, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The execs include CEO Matt Ouimet; chief financial officer Brian Witherow; and chief operating officer Richard Zimmerman.

The comments on The Register are more asinine than usual. I think getting Ouimet for a million is a bargain.

Cedar Point has kept Sandusky alive. The short sighted citizens of the community should be so lucky.
And, a million dollar salary for the CEO of a billion dollar company doesn't seem extravagant at all. I'd be willing to bet that the CEO of Firelands Hospital (in Sandusky) makes over $500k per year and his operation is significantly smaller that what the CEO of Cedar Fair is responsible for.
Sounds reasonable to me, considering the magnitude of the company and that Ouimet is doing a great job overall.
As the resident "raving liberal" - that salary is quite conservative. CEOs of companies that are totally failing make many times that ALL over the place - and Ouimet's regime and results have been extremely well-received.
Exactly. The pay isn't necessarily a bad thing when it's matched with results, and given CF's results, the pay probably is on the low end. It's the CEO's who make millions while (or even after) destroying a company (or the entire economy) or give themselves big raises while slashing everyone else's pay/benefits who are the real jerks.
