Cedar Fair 3rd quarter revenue up

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cedar Fair, L.P. announced results for the third quarter and first nine months of 2003. Net revenues for the quarter ended September 28, 2003, increased 3% to $282.2 million from $273.5 million in 2002, on a 1% increase in combined attendance, a 2% increase in average in-park guest per capita spending, and a 2% increase in out-of-park revenues, including resort hotels.

Thanks for messing with my head Cedarfair, ANNOUNCE IT ALREADY!

If my posts aren't regarding Dorney Park, I am most likely trying to annoy someone....

Anyone think Cedar Fair will try to outdo themselves and TTD in the next couple of years, at any parks?
Heightwise, not until someone else threatens their record. I think they'll try to add some variety (fliers, inversions, etc) until that becomes necessary.
Ok...now wait, I am confused. The Cedar Fair report was good, but how can that be when the good folks over at Six Flags claim the weather and economy have sucked so bad, and that is (SURPRISE!) their excuse (AGAIN!), as to why their parks had a bad 2003 season. How is this possible? ;)

And Holiday World's report was good too ... but I'm not trying to fuel the fire (*hides gasoline can*)

I think its pretty safe to say that Knott's Halloween Haunt had its best year ever attendance-wise. I'm sure that had a good effect on the 3rd Quarter revenue.

Actually the majority of ALL parks in the midwest and east had horrid 2nd quarters due to the weather, including CP and HW. Attendance returned to normal or surpassed 2002 after the weather improved in late july and the entire month of August, which is why parks like HW, CP, etc, were able to post an increase in the 3rd quarter. I suspect you'll find Six Flags parks in that area had similar attendance figures.

Holy crud! DP was down even more than expected, and I was expecting the worst!!! It went down OVER 10%, and this equals 200,000 people. I was only expecting it to go down over 100,000 people. Still, I have hope for next year. I think this small attendance figure this year is the reason why DP did not change any of their prices at all for next year. Well, they have decided to separate a ticket for Bonus Weekends and Halloweekends. A Halloweekends ticket will cost $25 next year and they will bring back Friday nights.

Anywho, now that I'm done blah ing about DP, I'm still glad Cedar Point and Valleyfair were able to pull up attendance this year. Congrats on VF for their rocketing attendance with Steel Venom and to CP for pulling through despite problems with Dragster. And I just want everyone to know, that's right, I'm a total DP fanboy and yet I'm glad VF did well. I hope to visit all of the Cedar Fair parks one day.

Well, most of that was Greek to me but I do know the dividends will keep coming. I am SO glad that Cedar Fair is part of my portfolio.
Olympic ans Wahoo,,,, Olyimpic.. this is so true.. what your comment was. CedarFair seems to have a good season in spite of some rainy days ,1st and 2nd Quarter . but how is it that Six Flags blames there POOR attendence on Bad weather ??? %^^&*&, good excuse, Six Flags blames bad weather on everything. .There was a Clogged toliet at the entrance to the WOA park ,so they put a sign up .
"(Bathroom Out Of Order because of bad weather)"come on!!Its properly run and properly managed Bussinesses that succeed.. They so need to get a clue . and Wahoo. I have stock in Cedar Fair parks, and its makes a dumptruck full of money for me......It a good stock to hav in anyones portfolio..I have had the shares since they went public..If any one wants to read about the inside of Cedar Fair . they have a great site on the net. cedarfair.com

I believe they were down 7%, or was that Knotts? Someone help me out, I can't remember all of them exactly. Here is what I know:

CP increase of 3% to 3.3 million.

VF increase of 7% to 1.1 million.

DP decrease of over 10% to 1.4 million.

MIA also increased a certain amount to I believe 480,000 people.

Sorry, I can't remember the rest.
