CCI Woodies

All I was saying is that if a ride is built in sand, it will factor more into the type foundation more than the structure itself. Rides are built on pier footings, strip footings and pilings to name a few, but to say a ride is built with steel only because it is built in the sand is false. Shivering Timbers is on strip footings in the sand like the Great White, and it has a wood frame.

Wood - anything else is an imitation

Yeah, I was agreeing with you. Sorry if I wasn't clear :)

CCI Turkeys that I have ridden: Twisted Sisters/Twins, The Boss, Zach's Zoomer.

None of these are up to CCI's normal standards, though none of them are even close to being bad enough to make my 10 worst list.

CCIs that left me underwhelmed: Villian, Boss, Twisted Twins, Shivering Timbers, Great White, Medusa [SF Mexico], Underground.

CCIs that blew away my expectations: Raven, Legend, Cornball, Hoosier Hurricane, Ghostrider, Boulder Dash, Sky Princess, LoCoSuMo, Outlaw, Zach's Zoomer.

Moosh: Do you mind me asking why Great White left you underwhelmed? I only ask because most people seem to be down on the ride, while I find it to be quite good! I know that I hold anything in Wildwood close to my heart for personal reasons, but I have always considered the Great White to be a fantastic ride while most others don't.

I didn't think that Zach's Zoomer nearly measured up to John Allen's classic junior woodies such as Beastie or Scooby Doo.

I'm shocked that Moosh didn't enjoy Shivering Timbers. Not many twists, but incredible air time, an excellent helix, and some nice trick track. Did anyone else wonder if the pun was intended in the station sign that reads, "Anyone Unfastening Their Seat Belt Will Be Ejected From The Park"?

Rob - I didn't hate Great White, it just left me wanting more. I felt many of the drops were quite rampy and didn't produce much airtime. Even the parabolic bunnies at the end seemed to lack punch. But I could have caught it on a bad day ;)

Jim - I prefer a little variety in my coasters. Timbers does one thing [airtime] and does it well, but I prefer a good mix of laterals, air, and an out-of-control feeling. That's why Raven, Legend, and Cornball are my top 3. But that's just my taste. I wouldn't blame anyone for really loving Timbers and ranking it as their #1.

See, weird thing about Timbers....if it had HALF the airtime it *looked* to have, it would clearly make my top ten wood....Phoenix sits on top with a few select others I absolutely adore....just didn't catch ST on its best day...

Of course, I rode GW on the same night as Moosh and *loved* it....that's why they say.....YMMV...(Your Mooshing may vary)....;)

P.S. The worst CCI is still better than the best day at work...:)

And I thought ZZ tore Beastie a new one, but Waldameer's Comet owns both of them, anyway.

But what do I know? I love Villain, Boss, and Twisted Stella! ;)

Timbers has the air, gator. You just have to wait until early evening for it to show up. ;)

When I rode Timbers it had air equal to Phoenix and the addition of the helix and trick track. I agree that it is short on the out of control surprises that Legend is probably the best example of (especially at night).
Chris: See, that's why 'Clops rules all in my book: Pants-soiling air a half-hour after opening!
Now if someone would just come along and build the rest of the coaster... ;)

Yeah, yeah, I know. ;) That's the math they teach us up here in central PA...

Whenever you can ride a roller coaster and experience 15 spots of intense airtime, you know you're on a good coaster. (see: Phoenix)

No offense, Jim, but I find that very difficult to believe. IMHO you're comparing apples to oranges.

A coaster that never gets much praise but I find absolutely amazing is Zeus. It's wild, fast, smooth, completely out of control and full of air and laterals. Very Raven-Like in my book.

Playa, 'Clops is a great half a coaster, but it leaves me wanting so much more.

Even Pegasus is a wild ride as far as Jr. Coasters go.

My top 5 includes 4 CCI's, 3 in Indiana and 1 in Michigan. The other is the coaster at Knoebel's that isn't green.

The only ones that have left me underwhelmed are Twited Sisters and Hoosier Hurricane while all 3 are still fun rides and have some great attributes about them, they just don't bring everything together.
