CB "Fall Affair" Auction sends $667 to Red Cross

Thanks to everyone who chipped in to make Saturday's auction a success.

A check for $667 is being sent to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief effort.

A secondary benefit for us is our amusement and delight at how much coaster enthusiasts will pay for our junk...er, treasures. Our maintenance department receives an annual memo from me: Never throw ANYTHING away!

As always, you folks crack us up! :)

Thanks for the great event!

my favorite moment while bidding for, I think, a Raven guide wheel (I was bidding on everything but the fried circuit boards...)

me : 15!
someone else : 20!
me: 25!
someone else: 100!
me: It's yours!!

or something like that

I'll bet we'd have raised more money if we'd *deep* fried 'em!

Sigh!

Paula,

Did you guys add the $1.00 so you didn't have $666? :)

-Tambo

You know, we've had church groups do that, so they don't have to give us a check for that amount.

But isn't the real number 616 not 666? The beast is a tricky devil ya know!

^I agree, Paula. NEVER throw ANYTHING away from your park. It's amazing what people will pay for....just about anything. lol.

A fried circuit board? Now THAT would be a conversation piece. :-)

I've still got a bunch in my office.

Have a feeling they'll show up at other events.

I think I'm going to use my Legend guide wheel as the heaviest and most expensive pencil holder I have ever purchased. :)

Paula, you should offer more goodies up on eBay. I know I would like to get my hands on some coaster "parts." I was disappointed I didn't take anything home with me. How many wheels do you guys go through in a season?

Whether it's considered "junk" or not, I'm happy to have my purple flag that flew on The Legend. My husband looked at it and said "it doesn't say Legend on it. How do you know it's from Legend?"

I told him they said it flew on Legend and I believe them. Besides, I've got Pat and Will Koch's signatures on it.

I'll be bringing it with me in the spring because I want Paula's signature too!

I'm going to hang it in my reclaimed art room with photos of The Legend, The Raven, and next year will add photos of The Voyage.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

I'm still not exactly sure what to do with my Raven road wheel. It's makes for a pretty good paper weight at 20 lbs. Also it's a pretty good cup holder too. As of right now, it still continues to sit in my bedroom floor, and I still continue to stumb my toe on it when I wake up in the morning. Common sense would tell ya to move it, wouldn't it? Maybe I just don't have any sense...

Congrats on the Raven wheel. I'd say if you had a pair of them you could make a pretty cool pumpkin for Halloween!

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

I was also bidding on that and was the last bid before the big ONE HUNDRED was shouted out. I was told later I should have continued with a quick "FORTY" after that.

Gage is SO proud of his Legend wheel and shows it off to everyone that comes over. Just waiting for him to drop it on his toes!

Does anyone have a good photo from the auction?

If so, please email it to me (fun@holidayworld.com) and I'll stick it up on the HoliBlog.

Thanks!
