From the press release:

At the center of the 50th anniversary celebration will be Aeronautica Landing, a tribute to the Carolinas’ spirit of invention, exploration, and aviation, where guests can immerse themselves in the history and future of flight. Construction is now under way in the Crossroads areas of the park, which will be completely renovated and renamed as Aeronautica Landing, complete with the introduction of five new themed attractions opening in 2023 as well as a retheming of an existing ride, for a total of six rides.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

This ties in nicely with the coaster next door, Afterburn.

Nice... Glad to see some more improvements coming here.

Cedar Fair has really done a great job putting theming back into this park. The original park was well thought out and themed. Paramount ripped out almost all of that.

Who would have thought 15 years ago that Cedar Fair would end up doing the best theming of all seasonal parks?

Once their planning and design folks were empowered, post-Kinzel, you could see it coming.

People gotta theme

The same person who leads Creative/Planning & Design at Cedar Fair is the same person that was the SVP of project development at Paramount. He took over for Rob Decker in 2019.

Not to mention the CEO, COO, Regional VP and GM of Carowinds are all Paramount people.

I was hoping they would theme up the area around Copperhead Strike a little more, I thought it looked great around the coaster, but it could have creeped out into the park more.

Or crept. Because creeped…., no.

I guess that shows what they can do when they aren’t forced to use horrible, soon forgotten Paramount IP that has nothing to do with any cohesive overall theme…

Jungle X retheme at Kings Dominion is spectacular. There are lots of details all over. It wasn’t necessarily a super expensive project but it was done very thoughtfully.
