Carowinds rebrands coasters

I just wanted to post a quick note about my dismay over the renaming of several rides. I knew they'd lose the licenses eventually, but these names just leave so much to desired.

Top Gun > Flight Deck - What a stupid, stupid name to try to keep the "theme." It has no "action" to it. I think just about anything would have been better.

BORG > Nighthawk - I like the name, but what are they going to do with the crashed ship in the lake? Now the theme is so pointless. If I were them, I'd remove the ship and put some kind of cool fountain. Repaint the faded ride a dark purple or something. And obviously get rid of the onlift announcements.

Just wanted to vent a bit. Oh well, at least Thunder Road is getting some TLC.

Seems logical that all theme elements will also be removed.

I can say this at KI they are going all out on removing any PARAMOUNT name. ALL the street signs are half taken down, The Marquee has had the top removed and all that remains is the Digital Message board, The GATES on the Marquee are gone as well.

On the final BARE BONES night you got a PARAMOUNT branded logo item weather you won or not on any games.

Let the word PARAMOUNT be stricken from any ledger, Item, Ride.

So let it be written, So let it be done!

Chuck, awaiting much better attractions where THEMING ISN'T half the cost of it and better quality of thrills and rides.

Could have been worse. We could have ended up with "Top Hawk", "Drop Hawk", etc.

Surprised Drop Zone was able to keep its name intact but Top Gun wasn't since both film names were taken from pre-existing phrases.

Also surprised CF hasn't gone after SF for all those "Tony Hawk" rides. Talk about infringement. ;)

they should've just changed it to Top Flight
Hawk Gun ;)

Will we see a Borg sphere on eBay?

Nice... :)

Tony was probably the only "Hawk" that CF hadn't already trademarked...

...other than ChickenHawk. That may take a few more years...

I suggested that they get rid of all the movie references and simply remove the space between the two words ("Topgun") so that the ride wouldn't have to change names. The term does refer to the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School after all.

Not that it matters...the coaster has built up such a reputation in the region that I'm sure the GP will continue to call it Top Gun anyway.

Haha, that one made me laugh. At work this past summer, we would always call Skyhawk Skychicken lol. We even wrote it on the schedules that someone was going to Skychicken for the day lol.

This reminds me of "Ride of Steel" but not nearly as bad...

Flight Deck?! haha. What were they thinking?!

That could almost beat 'Bling' and 'Playstation: The Ride' at Pleasure Beach.

Nothing to see here. Move along.
