Carowinds Postpones 04' Hyper to 05'

Recently, I was informed by starcoasters that the highly anticipated 2004 hyper, that was supposed to be announced this May with construction begining in august, will be postponed yet another year do to finicial reports. Not only does this suck for Carowinds Coaster-Goers, but it shows how Paramounts continuesly screws over Carowinds while managing to add and steal rides at Carowinds' expense, the "midway swings" in CA being one example. Anyhow, I think this whole situation is rather ironic considering that the Paramount Entertainment Corperation is headquartered in Charlotte, NC (the very location of Carowinds).

I may be a little bratty at the moment but im sure other Carowinds Coaster-Goers feel the same way. Carowinds is actually a great park, just underated and screwed over. We may as well name the "new hyper" the "?? Hyper" considering that it may never be built thanks to Paramount.

Geez, how long must we wait?

We can only hope that one day it will come...

So what you're saying, basically, is that because they didn't add the coaster *you* want corporate is screwing PKD? The park got Top Gun in 1999, Super Saturator in 2000, a Mouse in 2002, and a Jr suspended is coming this year. How, exactly, is that "screwed over" ?

I am as dissapointed as you are Andrew, but think, we have Top Gun, one of the best inverts out there, and one of 3 inverts at Carowinds, a racing woodie, a triple out-and-back., a classic arrow looper, a classic family woodie, an average mine train, a nice mack mouse, the first ever suspended water-coaster, and B&M's third coaster. Obviously Paramount is goin the family route w/ carowinds (with the 2003 addition of its 5th family coaster), but is that really a bad thing?

Familys bring more people, which means more money. Maybe the hyper will eventually happen, maybe it won't, im sure Paramount has the best in mind for the park instead of maliciously screwing it over time after time.

Hmmm could this be a hint of PKI getting a hyper first, maybe a test for the other parks in the chain? Anyways if the park isn't making the money (which I'm sure it is) than they aren't going to add something that big. I think that you guys probably need some more flats anyways! They have done PKI wonders. Anyways you guys have gotten 4 coasters in 4 years. I think that's pretty good at least you have a good B&M.

First off Moosh, were, are, and will be screwed over. Its not like the Carowinds-Goers wanted a hyper and are mad that its not being built simply because they wanted it. We are upset because Carowinds told us there was a high chance of a hyper in 02'. Then they told us it would be postponed ot 04'. Now they tell us it will be postponed to 05'.

We are mad because Carowinds is Paramounts "run-off park". And by the way its PC, not PKD.

I am very happy with the mouse, and 2 "mini" suspended coasters, i am just upset about the indian giving that occurs between paramount and Carowinds. I guarentee if Cedar Point decided to post-pone lets say, Top Thrill Dragster, that CP nuts would go bezerk.

(Don't yell at Moosh, he meant PC... something he really isn't, lol ;))

In addition, they added the great Scooby Doo dark ride and I'm still jealous PKI hasn't received a mouse yet, but that may not be meant to be as well. I think we'll see PGA get the junior hyper next season and maybe PKI will get one. 2005 will probably be a big year for both PC and PCW... really big if this is true. Since PC doesn't have an incredible amount of competition and has a much lower attendance than PKI, I would be really happy with what they did have. Look at WOF and VF!

I wasnt yelling, just correcting. I mean no harm to ya'lls planet ( =. Believe me im just getting warmed up! And I am a new member, sorta. But i am kinda unhappy with the bullying situation that occurs when one CB member "flames" another. This can best be described as my good friend would put it, a crucifiction. Be more accepting of others thoughts. (im not refering to myself being bullied, rather to the past members)
LOL I didn't even see your reply when I made that post. It was just a general statement just giving me a chance to poke fun at that crazy guy. He was the one who was a little "confused". ;)

Don't worry about it. No bully here. Only Tom... and maybe some Foolery... the offspring that brought you Shock and Wave, eh. No flames either buddy. :)

first off, whether you intended to or not, you were yelling. That's what all caps, italics, or bold means. That is how those things are interpreted. If you didn't mean to yell, you might want to go back and edit that a little.

I look at your coaster line-up, and I see little reason for complaint. About the only thing you could use is, in fact, a hyper. That's nothing to get in a tizzy about: I don't think any of the other Paramount parks have one, either. It's just not their bag. While one would be more than just nice, you'll get along fine without one.

Now, I can see how you might be a little disapointed that you were expecting something, and are now missing out. But, in the world of coasters, there is a very hard and fast rule: It's not a sure thing until there's vertical constuction, or an official press release (and not always, then). While this does, in fact, suck, it's hardly abnormal (look at SFWoA), and it doesn't mean your park is getting screwed. Be happy with what you have, for the moment, and let tomorrow come at it its own pace. Who knows? Your vaunted hyper may turn out to be a disapointment (cough*ragingbull*cough), or it might end up kicking out one of your current favorites.

I think this is more an issue of the fact that NO park in the south has anything resembling a hyper in any way, shape, or form. Of course, I live an hour and change away from PC and 2.5 away from SFoG (home park by choice), so I think anyone who lives near a park is spoiled whether you're happy with the park's lineup or not.

If PC had gotten a hyper this year, they would have gotten more of my money. Not that they care so much, I don't have kids.

I'm not an enthusiast, I just play one on message boards.

Well I'm not flaming, but hey atleast you get more than SFAW. I looked up all of your coasters on RCDB and they all look pretty good. Not great, but good. Vortex I heard wasn't that good, but it can't be that bad it is a B&M. I think with the family additions this year it will bring in some more people which will add money to your park THEREFORE getting you that hyper in '05 and maybe a Huss Giant next year.
One, its their business they can do whatever they want. Did the park actually say, "I think we might get a hyper in 2002" or just a rumor that you heard. Cause that is all anything is until the park releases it.

At least PC is being operated by paramount & not SF,of course we all know that SF plays the favortism game with it's parks while paramount most always adds a little something to almost all of the parks they operate.

Imagine if SF ran the park, you'd probably be seeing far less in the way of new rides than you are seeing at PC right now & if a hyper is coming to the park just give them some time to make up their minds about it.

Like others have said you've got a fairly decent line up as it is,just enjoy what's there now & just be grateful that you're getting something new in 03.

Other note, at least you have gotten coasters recently unlike canada's wonderland.
