Carowinds Flyer, the inside poop....

Am I *allowed* to say poop in this context? ;)

Here's the deal, best as I can guess....yes, this is NOT insider info, as if you didn't already know that...

The 100th Anniversary of the Wright Brothers first flights over Kitty Hawk will be....Dec. 17th of this year. Got to watch a cool PBS documentary of the whole thing, VERY educational...

So, on to the prediction portion of our show...the name will be announced Dec. 17th according to Kreskin....and the name will be (where's that annoying drum roll coming from?)....WRIGHT FLIGHT!

David Mandt, for being the first person to correctly "tag" the *new-ish* Vekoma flyer, can I win an invite to the Grand (Re-)Opening...;)

Now that could actually be an interesting theme...if they actually theme it.
Ahhh... are you sure? Wright Flight? I was told they were working with Paramount Pictures on a name and the announcement would be sometime in January or after the holidays. Guess we will just have to wait and see.
Ooh, that's going to fire up the Dayton, Ohio, residents. The Wright brothers lived in Dayton, owned their bicycle shop in Dayton and built their plane in Dayton; they just took it to North Carolina to fly it because where they lived wasn't flat enough.

So if anyplace should have a "Wright Flight," it should be PKI (less than 30 minutes from Wright-Patterson AFB) or better yet, LeSourdeville Lake, which is even closer.

That's what they'll say, anyway. ;)

My blog You said, "I'm gonna run you down." I heard, "I'm an orangutan."
Oh boy, not that argument again. We win off of a technicality ;)

I was sure that the Kitty Hawk site was selected because of the winds and the high dunes, too...

As an aside, if you've never seen the Wright memorial on the Outer Banks, it is quite impressive and informative.

ghettocoaster, I think you might be well-served to re-read my post....;)

Obviously I am not *sure*, hey, I'd even go so far as to say I really DOUBT that it'd come true...some might call this "harmless off-season speculation" I guess....;). But it WOULD be a nice idea, and give Carowinds a great way to tie in the regional aspect of the park with some nice theming and history lessons, along with a great *new* ride...:)

Yes I know. I must of missed that part when I was first reading it but I agree - It would be a nice theme, but it wouldn't fit in Paramount Plaza, but rather the Boardwalk area instead.

Just an idea - get a Flying Eagles attraction in the Boardwalk and theme it after the "Wright Brothers"? :)

Just please , Paramount , don't paint the trains or track Tan.

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!

I don't think the Dayton residents will really care, although I am sure there will be a few complain. ;-)

Never mind the "new" coaster. Carowinds should be thinking about adding a real Drop ZOne and putting the mini-me version they have now in Nick Central for the kiddies. ;-)

I think the presentation will be a neat idea and I look forward to the "Wright Flight" or whatever it will be called. I am not that crazy about Carowinds but it gives me another excuse to visit. ;-)

Well you won't have to worry about them painting the track tan. Before the park closed, they were testing a few colors... Black was on the rails and crossties and they tested teal, neon green, and another lighter shade of green for the spine. Currently the supports are being painted black. Star Trek? Possibly... Who knows, although the colors just doesn't seem to point to a Wright Brothers theme.

Not sure if I like that name, but the theme is a good idea. One step towards the Carolina aspects of the park.

How about this for a Carolina-themed flyer:

Air Jordan.

They could keep the white and red tracks, and just paint the supports black. Then it'll have the exact same color scheme as those ugly ugly shoes...

Gator - your hypothesis makes perfect sense to me. I'd be willing to wager that the press release reads something like this:

"100 years ago the Orville and Wilbur Wright made history with man's first flight. Today Paramount's Carowinds makes history again with...."

If that happens, I promise you that I will never EVER ride that coaster. Heck, I may never even go to that park again.

As far as the Jordan thing goes... the ride will certainly provide some serious "hang time." Sorry.

Two questions. 1) Who is Kreskin? 2) What exactly did you mean when you said "David Mandt being the first person to "tag" the flyer?

You left some BIG holes in your prediction :)

Wow, do I feel old now...;)

"Tagging" in the sense that I beleieve I'm the first person to *predict* this name. If (huge, huge IF here folks) that turns out to be the concept...I should win something, no? ;)

David M. is one of the guys who could come up with a suitable "prize"...:)

Warning: the above is intended "for entertainment purposes only". Had this been an actual advertisement, you'd have been bombarded with testimonials from people who've never even read any of my "volumes" of material....

LOL, Gator....all this time I thought you meant Johnny Carson's "Carnac the Magnificent" character, who would attempt to guess the answer to a question, sealed in an envelope.

Carnac [holding envelope to head]: "Herpes...."

Ed McMahon [repeats Carnac's answer]: "Herpes...."

[Carnac rips open envelope and pulls out a slip of paper containing the question, reads it aloud]

Carnac: "What goes between her steak and her potatos?"

--laughter ensues--

mOOSH [the young folk probably won't get that]

Hmm...Wright Flight is sort of clever I guess. It just doesn't sound too thrilling if this is indeed the name of the new flyer. I prefer "Kill Devil Hills" if it's going to have a Wright Brothers theme.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
