Carowinds 4/13(Long)

Associated parks:
None

Yesterday I went to Carowinds with 2 of my friends and my girlfriend around 2:00 in the afternoon and we stayed until closing which was at 10 at night. I have to say this was one of the best times I have had at Carowinds and going at night is the best!

When we arrived we headed straight for Top Gun which had a almost full line. We waited for about 20 minutes and headed for the back seat. Top Gun is still running great and is super smooth. Next we decided to do Thunder Road backwards. Thunder Road got even more retracking this year and the ride flies and is actually pretty smooth! I even got some air too! After Thunder Road we hit the Frenzoid which is one of my favorite rides in the park. The Frenzoid is an inverter pirate ship just like the Beserker at PKD.

After Frenzoid we headed over to the Carolina Boardwalk area and went on the Carolina Cyclone. The new restraints are nice and aren't stiff like last years restraints. Even though the ride may not be huge, I still love this ride and it is very well maintained. I also get the little tingly feeling in my stomach on the drop which is something I don't get quite often anymore.

After Cyclone we ran over to Drop Zone. It's not the biggest freefall ride but Im grateful that we have one because freefall rides are one of my favorites. We decided to head over to Hurler next. It was running very fast and I got some nice air too... After that my friend Hannah and my girlfriend decided to do the Xtreme Skyflyer so me and my friend Greg watched. Freefalling from a giant metal pole doesn't bother me but there is just something about freefalling from a little wire that makes me a just a little nervous... Oh well, they enjoyed it:)

We ate dinner at Subway and headed over to the Goldrusher. We sat in the back and decided to make it more exciting by turning our heads around so it went "backwards". After that we headed over to Ricochet which is a very fun and it still suprises me after being on it a couple times. Also, Carowinds did a GREAT job with the new boardwalk area.

Next was Vortex which was running really fast and unusually smooth. If you sit in the back you get some air on the hill after the loop! We had to wait because on the second train the restraint would only open half way so they had to take the train off the track. This is where the highlight of our day began... when it started to get dark.

Now that is was pretty much dark outside we headed over to Top Gun and stopped by the arcade and played around a bit. The park was pretty much empty by now so we did Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion next which is really fun. Now I love Top Gun during the day but at night it is completely awesome! The tunnels are pitch black and riding in the dark always adds an extra thrill, plus there was no line.

After riding Top Gun a couple times we went over to Thunder Road. Both stations were empty and they were actually racing so we went on both sides about 10 times. The employees were great and getting everyone psyched up. They were like... "White train whose gonna win!?" and and everyone would scream and they did the same to the blue side. Everyone was screaming and cheering at each other on the way up the lift. Me and my girlfriend decided to do the lets kiss before we go down the hill type of thing:) It was the most fun I have ever had on Thunder Road! After that we went on the Frenzoid again and ended out night with Top Gun. So basically I recommend going to Carowinds at night when it closes at 10!

Great report! Glad you had so much fun! Parks at night are great!
