Canada's Wonderland

I have two questions. I have convinced my family that we should to Canada's Wonderland this weekend if there would not be GIANT lines. Considering it is Canada I don't think lines would be as big as American parks(considering when I'm going). I would be there Friday night and Saturday until 5. I know the lines would be at least average considering its a fri and sat in July, but will the lines increase because of the American hoiliday.

Question 2: If I go, what should I make sure not to miss?

Ha...haha

Outside Of Great Adventure and Cedar Point, Wonderland was the most consistently crowded park I have ever visited. Good Luck

Agreed. Wonderland is a popular spot in the Toronto area. I was surprised with the crowds. Don't let that stop you from visiting this beautiful park, though.

To answer your second question, well, there is no answer. It's all a matter of preference. Hit the coasters, and the Giant Flats are also worth your wait. This park has a pretty good mix of things to do.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Wonderland will be crowded this weekend, definately dont let that stop you. Considering Wonderlands close proximity to Buffalo/Rochester, you most likely will have a good sized American crowd. I have been there on a rainy cold Wed in mid August and had huge crowds. The lines should move pretty smoothly, and there is so much to do aka flats, coasters, waterpark, there shouldnt be too much of a problem. I wouldnt miss Vortex, Shockwave, Slegehammer, psyclone, wilde Beast, Skyrider, and Minebuster, but that my opinion. I love Sol Loco (called orbiter now) its a huss grand enterprise, the only grand enterprise I know of. Save some time for the waterpark too, they have some great slides.
Well. Once people enter the park, they naturally flow to the right (towards Medieval Fare). This means that if you head left at opening there are basically no lines to be found. So, if you resist the urge to ride Psyclone, Sledgehammer, Minebuster and Skyrider on the Friday night, you can easily pick up these first thing Saturday morning within in your first hour at the park. However, Minebuster does give out quite good night rides, so that is something you probably should consider doing on the Friday night.

Wonderland has some very unique experiences. I suggest you try and ride pretty much everything. However, if you absolutely have to cut something, I wouldn't bother with Top Gun (SLC) or The Bat (Boomerang) as they are the most popular rides in the park (and as enthusiasts we know they are crap ;) )

Also, I suggest you get to the park a little bit early. Wonderland just installed new walk-through metal detectors and since the park lets people enter before opening time, you can beat the backlog.

Other than that, enjoy yourself – it’s a beautiful park.

Yes! As soon as school is let out in the GTA the park gets pretty busy regardless of what time of the week you are there. As previously mentioned Wonderland is one of the top 5 busiest seasonal Amusement Parks in North America and with the shorter operational season you are going to have some busy days to average 3 million guests per season. Like most parks Saturdays are the busiest. But, here is a Wonderland secret , keep this one to yourself, Friday evenings are the best times to visit the park. PCW is now open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM.

Even on the busiest days you will never see the extreme wait times like at other parks. I would guesstemate a max wait of 15-30 minutes on a fairly busy day.

Not to miss: Depends what you are into.

Coasters: Vortex (front seat wait for it); Wild Beast (front seat) Minebuster (front seat) (castrated from previous years) . The GP loves the Bat and Top Gun.

Flats: The Flat ride Capital of North America - Just go crazy on these

Splash Works- A very under rated water parks. Tons of slides.

When I visited on a TUESDAY in late JUNE... just last week... althought it was hot & humid... I didn't think that the crowds would be that big...

...damn was I wrong!!

Your biggest waits? Well... I would have to say that your longest waits will be in the waterpark for any & all the waterslides... when it gets hot, it seems like half the crowd is in the waterpark. There's lots to do there, but there's also a long wait because everyone wants to do everything.
Also, the water rides themselves can warrent close to an hour wait, especially their white water canyon river raft ride.
The biggest wait I found for a flat ride was Drop Zone, their lone drop tower. Great ride, although not nearly as fun as an S&S drop tower... but probably not worth the nearly 45+ minute wait.

The sad thing is... because this was a Tuesday in June... the crowds can only be amplified for July & weekends!!!
But the good thing is... since there is such a variety of rides, and soo much to do, only those rides & attractions I listed can be a long wait. The rest (including all coasters), can flow pretty smoothly with a 5 to 20 minute wait tops.

ok, thanks for everything. I'm pretty sure we are deffinatly going. Despite what you guys said I think that I will have to go on Top Gun once even though it will have a long line. My dad went on the one in California(on a business trip :-p , don't know how that corresponds with java [the computer language], but he went on it either way) and he said he liked it.
Do *not* miss the Mondial Topscan (Shockwave) - it should be your number one priority if you haven't ridden one. Try to sit on the outside if you can; the ride there rivals most coasters I've been on.

LOL! Tuesday June 24, Gee! Last day of school here wasn't officially until Thursday June 26 - wasn't suppose to be busy that then. ha! ha!. Wow! you also ran into the second day of the first heat wave of the summer. If you can wait it out the water park starts to clear out around 6 PM and then you can get to ride most slides. Also getting to Splash Works as soon as it opens usually gives you about an hour before it is packed.

So did you have a good time at Wonderland even though it was packed?

Since it was my first time there... I really did enjoy it. I was a little overwhelmed that the crowds were so big given the day, and I didn't really get to enjoy the waterpark.

I wasn't used to the long lines just for a waterslide... so we gave up on them after like an hour. It was so hot that day, you were just sweating bullets, and had to get a water-fix, so those little mushrooms pouring water were a better relief than waiting like 30 minutes for 1 slide... and the wavepool was big enough to accomidate nearly anyone, so that was great... not to mention that the water was pretty warm (hopefull that's from the heated water, and not certain people).

Ride lines weren't all that long, even for Sledge Hammer & Psyclone... so it still made the day very much enjoyable. I was just a little disappointed that White Water Canyon wasn't a little more "soaking wet" as a ride...

But I hope to go back next year, this time armed with a camera... I didn't know how many picture perfect moments there were, especially at night with the fountains glowing in red & blue... but I didn't have my cam on hand, and I really regret it!
