Canada's Wonderland - Dragon Fire Repaint.

Well today I was driving past CW on the 400 highway and to my surprise Dragon Fire(The coaster rumored to be torn down) is actually being repainted from ugly rusted green to a bright lemon yellow with purple supports. Maybe it will help the falling ridership and encourage more people to ride it since it would be more visible and intimidating? Instead of the normal Walk on, maybe the queue will actually fill on Dragon Fire which seems to be the only walk on at PCW.

Can you take some pics of it.

Maybee Dragon Fire is getting some paint so that some smaller parks looking at it to buy it are seeing a nicely painted and new looking color (or colour in Canada). It would make sense to remove the coaster as they could build out into the parking area much like the did with Top Gun, and build a nice large coaster. Mabee a Hyper or mega looping B&M coaster?? Also, don't be shocked if Top Gun is removed to put in a B&M invert as CF parks all have B&M inverts in them (except those newly acquired parks)
^ORLY? Where is the B&M inverted for Geauga Lake, Michigan's Adventure, and Valleyfair?

Including the newly acquired PKS parks, the only CF parks to have a B&M inverted are: Cedar Point, Dorney Park, Knotts Berry Farm, Worlds of Fun, Carowinds and Great America

That leaves: Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Canada's Wonderland, Valleyfair, Geauga Lake and Michigans Adventure.

6/12 or roughly 1/2 of the CF parks have B&M inverteds.

Actually, I'd be very shocked if the park removed a perfectly good SLC (i don't like it, but it runs well, and it's very popular with guests)just for a much more expensive version.

There's no reason to do that.

I could see Dragon Fire maybe being relocated to a smaller park, but that one is much less popular with the GP, and has been for years now.

Wasn't the great thing with the Paramount properties was that they don't need all that much improving like Cedar Fair's past parks they acquired. All the parks are all in good shape.

Actually, I could see PCW getting a Morgan (hopefully B&M) hyper. They GOT the goods at the turnstiles.

Awesome park...but when you put in IJ:ST and it's the next-best thing to your Arrow suspended, you could USE a decent steel coaster....LOL!

A paint job MIGHT buy the coaster some ridership for the first month or so...once people realize it's the same RIDE underneath, the *bump* should be pretty short-lived. Location of the ride is also a killer.

You are completely full of crap. I was at the park Sunday, April 22 to process my Maxx pass, and Dragon Fire looked exactly the same.

Plus, can you even clearly see Dragon Fire from the 400?? It's on the opposite side of the park!

No.. SFDL is correct. I also saw the new paint job from the highway on Wednesday night when I drove by. It is clear they are painting the track yellow and leaving the supports alone (purple). It was obviously a work in progress.

When coming from the north, heading south on 400, you can clearly see almost all of Dragon Fire from the road.

Hmmmmmm, interesting that they would start this so close to opening day!
Swoosh what I was trying to say was that all of the original CF parks have B&M inverts in them instead of SLC's. I did mention that all but the newly acquired parks, which include all of the Paramount chain, Geauga Lake and Michigan's Adventure. So in my book, that leaves Valleyfair as the only original CF park that does not have a B&M invert.

It appears that CF favors the B&M inverts over the SLC's and may want to have that as a signature of every one of the CF owned parks. Now correct me if I am wrong in saying that CW is the only park that does not have a B&M invert that already has an SLC. If that is the case, they may remove the SLC to build something better. They really don't have that many great steel coasters in that park.

I would also really like to see a hyper come to CW

They got the goods at the turnstiles - even better reason to NOT build that hyper, lol.

If IM so full of **** than why did I see yellow Track then? Also you ****CAN**** see dragon fire from the highway if your a passenger in the car and CAN look around so I don't know what your talking about there, unless your blind or something;) Its pretty catchy seeing a big blast of yellow especially when your obsessed with coasters and EYE out the park for any possible changes like I did. Im telling your - IT WAS BEING PAINTED YELLOW. Who knows though maybe it was just a primer or something but it WAS definately being painted yellow.

Look, I found ANOTHER topic about this on a different site and to my surprise SOMEONE else seen the yellow too.... http://www.thrillvelocity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=250&page=2

Oh and they could've started painting it AFTER the 22nd because I seen it AFTER that date and so did the people on Thrill Velocity. I ain't going to waste 50 bucks for gas and 3 hours of my time to go back and take a picture, so why don't you go hop in your car.. Take a cruise down the 400 and see for yourself, you big shot. Then come back and tell me whos the one thats full of crap. I know it won't be me...
And here, since you probably don't wanna do that either heres a pic from Google Maps showing the 400 Highway(Left side of the pic) and Dragon Fire(Right side) Clearly if your driving and are LOOKING you *CAN* see it http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&z=17&ll=43.846328,-79.544599&spn=0.005432,0.009924&t=k&om=1

Based on the latest map for this year...

Is Orbiter still actually there? I haven't been to the park since '03... but I thought there were rumors that the only existing Huss Giant Enterprise was going to be removed, and the maps kind of "erased" it from existance.

This year's map shows the name of Orbiter as well as the correct location, but not the ride. Is it still there?

There are photos posted at http://www.cwmania.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=100 of the new Dragon Fire paint job. I can assure you that the ride is definitely being painted a bright yellow.

Also, orbiter is definitely going to be at the park this year as I also saw that running with my own eyes today. *** Edited 4/29/2007 2:38:40 AM UTC by cwmania***

Call me crazy, but to me,

    http://www.cwmania.com/photos/displayimage.php?album=100&pos=6

looks like CW is running circuit tests on track that is only partly painted. That doesn't make any sense to me. I mean, don't you have to let the track cure for 24 hours or some such before you can operate trains? But why would they stop the painting in the middle to test run?

Hate to say I told you so. Hey by looking at those pics the front of the train got a new logo design on it you can see it in this pic,

I don't think that anyone is sure when the track was painted so it could have been done days ago for all we know. However, as you can see in the photos the work is far from being completely done.

^^Ensign, you are not crazy BTW (well at least not in this case). The park was not just testing the ride. There were pretty much full trains of riders going on it yesterday. I believe that I read somewhere that a bank had bought out the park yesterday so there were quite a few people at the park. It looked as if almost everything was running.

^I'm not sure about the logo, but it does look new. *** Edited 4/29/2007 12:40:01 PM UTC by cwmania***
