Can We Get A Coaster Enthusiasts TV Channel !!!

With digital television and the multitude of channels avalibe I feel that we need a station for all of us who love Roller Coasters. 24-7 all coasters all the time!! Just wondered if anyone else thought of this at all. I love how TLC and DISCOVERY do their annual shows, but we need more. Just wondered that was all!
No.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

As much as I love coasters, how many original hours of TV can you create about coasters?

There are "only" 1092 coasters in the world. If you were to highlight 7 coasters an hour, you'd run out of coasters in 6.5 days...

I doubt that that could happen. but, nice name Scuba Steve! lol(BigDaddy)

Well, you can highlight different themeparks, and flat rides, but still, that would get old, and look how mad we get when they repeat shows on Discovery, TLC, or Travel Channel, that wuold be a daily occurence.

Hmmm....I think that would be a tad overkill and even I would get tired of watching it after a day or so. IMHO the Thrills, Chills, and Spills gets old after awhile. I mean seriously how many times can you take Paul Reuben in on day, let alone 24-7 - God that almost sounds like a punishment.

I wouldn't mind & I wouldn't grow tired of watching it either, heck I was watching a couple of popular mechanics for kids shows on coasters the other day on one of the digital channels.

I was alsao watching wild rides all day on Dicovery home & leisure channel thanks to it being repeated every 4 hours or so.

By having an amusement network it can give enthusiasts a great opportunitty to catch up on some of the programs that they may have missed,so for that reason I'm all for it.

Hey redman there is 1664 coasters in the world. Looked at http://rcdb.com/census.htm

And if they had a tv channel like that I would probably sit around all day and watch it instead of doing other things for fun.

I am glad to hear so much response on this. It was just an idea that I was pondering. It is nice to meet all of you and have some other coaster lovers to talk to. Thanks
I would love that channel if it existed!! I think that they could show not only the history of coasters, but also the history of the companies, designers, and certain infamous legend coasters such as the CBC, the Bat, and Drachen Fire. also show formulas for coaster G's, as well as a debate forum on coasters (a mclaughlin group for theme parks!)

I am one.
I am Turbo.

For a few reasons, it isnt going to happen.

First off, there arent enough people that like coasters for them to make a channel out of it. Ofcourse many people would watch the channel, but not nearly as many would watch like they do discovery/speed/etc.

Also, who is going to fund it? Disocover does shows on coasters, but they already have their channel with a wide variety of different shows and series' for people to watch. There just isnt a chance for a channel like this to get started.

Lastly, there isnt enough coasters/parks to film. The channel would get extremely boring over the winter, considering that literally no filming can be done except for a few select parks(mostly which we see *all* the time anyway[SFMM!!]...).

Given the slight chance that there were 20x more coasters, and 10x more parks, with a yearlong season at each with someone with enough money to do it, yes the show would be great. But i dont see that happening any time soon. I think Thrills, Chills, and Spills will do just fine for now anyways. Besides, we still got all summer to ride..what need for a channel?

Well during the winter you would just have to film parks in (gasp) the other hemisphere where it is (gasp) summer -- oh my what a novel idea. ;) I love being a devil's advocate.

MAKE THE LISP STOP! Hopefully someone will understand.

I wouldn't mind the channel, but I don't think I'd watch it often. I rather go out and ride one than watch it on TV. Plus, I rather see the actual track, not the faces of those riding it.

I would rather see a weekly show covering 2 Parks an episode. Not just Coasters, but flats and shows as well. An overall "Guide to the Park" weekly show. I think a channel would just be pushing it. Oh wait, they are in the process of a Reality TV Channel. Never know!

Free Falls on Drop Zone: 10!
Batwing Flights: 7!
Superman: Ride of Steel Airtime-age: 10!

I actually like the Travel Channels' "Secrets" that they have done on parks. I watched one on Dollywood the other night and found it quite entertaining, and I learned somethings that I never knew about the park. I would like them to continue those, with a different one a week or bi-weekly. I would really like to see them go down to SDC/CC.

Oh and yes I got your joke. ;)

I think it could be done. However, it would have to be a more broad catagory like resorts and destination entertainment.

Please visit the small parks. We don't know what's happening behind the scenes

FYI: I believe scuba steve knew that it would never happen, no one has to give reasons why. Im just sayin.

If there was one then, during the winter, there could be cams so you can what parks are doing and see what they are building. I think the coaster show would be cool but I think it should show news and everything that has to with the thrill world(water parks and other thrilling things)

A true enthusiast goes on the kiddie coasters.

Would I like it to happen? Yes. Do I think it will happen? No. But then again, if there's a whole channel devoted to airplanes (Discovery Wings), ya never know.
I have to agree with Titanfan we have channels for everything else but how to kill someone. Oxygen has a cat show for cats you never know if we will get our coaster channel, but I thought it would make a great discussion and dont get mad at me or tell me im stupid for thinking about this it was just a question...that was all.. thanks
Its true that there is a limited amount of parks to cover, but think of the parks that have never been on TV before. I think i have seen Knoebels mentioned maybe thrice on TV, like someone said, they could give the history of parks, rides, companies and coasters. Of every catagory, not just the "big" parks, but the small parks as well. They coud take some of ther series off of the other channels that belong to add to ones on amusement one. Add to that up-to date shows, news (Amusement Today/The Loop), rumors, surveys, debates , maybe some sort of show discussing coaster/park sites, and waterpark stuff and it could possibly work. The cam thing during the winter would be cool too.

I don't think a channel will happen. You could get a 30 min. show a week. Some parks don't like cameras filming in the park.
