that ride may be 24 seconds of pure fun, but walking underneath it or Standing in line for goliath its becomes a headache. It seems like everytime i want to go from goltah to batman or riddler, i have to wait five minutes for STE to luanch and then run underneath before it can luanch again. so i ask can they do anything to quiete that loud Roar which sounds like a f-18e super hornet flying over.
The way that the tracks on that thing are, no, they cannot quiet it. And what's wrong with the noise? I rather enjoy the sound of a fast rollercoaster flying just inches over my head. Going down the exit on B&R:TC is great because you're in between the tracks and when one launches, it flies past you. You also walk right under the Robin track when you turn to the right at the botom of the ramp. Unfortunately, that side has been closed this year and won't open until next year...so I have to settle for Batman.

It is so loud, but i love it, so i guess i don't care, every time i rode goliath, the line wasn't very long, but i guess if it were like an hour it would get really annoying.
If they wanted to SFMM could quiet that noise. However, the sound is considered to be part of the experience. In otherwords, the park management want the noise to be loud. SFMM wants customers to hear the ride from all over the park.
Exactly...remember on the old Extreme Rides show they said it was designed to be both big and loud. It adds character to the ride. If it was quieter people wouldnt just stand there and say WOW! Same thing with Goliath its is pretty loud going up its lift itself, it draws peoples attention since the drop is the main thing people see before getting in line. ------------- "ok everyone go ahead and pull down on your shoulder restraint so you feel nice and stuck!"
Hey, I live near the Miramar air base (Top Gun)here in San Diego and every summer the Blue Angels fly over my house. Superman:TE does remind me of that. I like the sound of S:TE, its really loud and its cool that you can hear it anywhere in the park.
I'm pretty sure that it was designed to be that loud to attract people to it. I remember seeing something on the Discovery Channel that it's noise can be heard throughout for one reason or another.

I've been at the park when both ran once at the same time while i was right under it. GOODLORD!! it was like listening to God. The sound isn't made completely by the track, but by the front and back of the car. It cuts the air at an angle that makes a loud noise, same technology that makes B&M coasters "roar" as they race by. ------------- The SFMM Salvi: "Goliath Jr. looks to intense for me" "I want to go on something more exciting than X"
I hate to burst your bubbles, but the Blue Angels aren't F-18e models. The Super Hornet has a redesigned airframe. However, I guess the sound is probably the same so your points are still valid. ;)
For somebody who has been to Magic Mountain, what is the source of the noise? Is it the friction between the wheels and the track? The LSMs? The electricity?
