Camden Park cited by OSHA for 45 safety violations

Waverly Entertainment Inc., doing business as Camden Park in Huntington, West Virginia, was cited by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration on Dec. 10 for 40 serious violations, including exposing employees to fall, electrical, chemical and amputation hazards and obstructed exit routes that were not visibly marked, the agency said Thursday in a statement.

Why am I not surprised? Those of you who have been to this park may understand. The park has a simplicity that contributes to its nostalgia. I'm not so sure that nostalgia is there on purpose. That same simplicity is probably a factor in these OSHA violations.

That's the nicest way I can explain my opinion about this.


The fine could be more than what they make in a year...

Yeah. My one and only visit was in the late 90's and even then it felt like I needed a tetanus shot after leaving.

The park started looking a lot better in the mid-00's once they tore down the TBolt Express and cleaned up the landscaping. They even added many new attractions.

I am not completely shocked, though. I was just hoping their financial troubles were behind them.
