California issues theme park reopening guidelines, keeps Disneyland and Universal closed

Posted | Contributed by BrettV

The new guidelines mean Disneyland in Anaheim and Universal Studios Hollywood in Universal City will have to wait. Orange County remains in the state’s red tier for reopening, the second most restrictive tier. Los Angeles remains in the most restrictive purple tier. Smaller parks have different opening guidelines.

I hate to come out and say it, but if that whole tourist trap around Disneyland takes a beating, that might be Disney's opportunity to buy up some of that property that they would just *love* to own...

There was some wine spilt on the screen of the laptop when I read the suggestion that Disneyland would be closed for good. That said, I had not given thought to what Dave mentioned, but there is merit there. Businesses with a growth mindset are constantly on the lookout to ex[and when the opportunity arises (which means at the unfortunate expense of others), and I don't think it is much of a stretch to assume that Disney is not seeing this as an opportunity to expand it's relatively land-locked position.

Promoter of fog.

We could start with American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic by Andrew Cuomo

Jeff digs the leadership type reads, right?

...Or should we hold out and wait for Gary Newsoms inevitable but not ready-for-press book.

RCMAC, I'm just interested in my roller coasters, and I don't want them to be shut down forever. And it's time all of California's parks pull an Ohio and push legal action towards the rich Newsom.

Why would anybody interested in roller coasters come to Coasterbuzz circa 2020? :)

See, you might have some points with some merit, (in fact, I'd wager that many people on here agree with you about reopening Disneyland) but nobody can take you seriously, when you're throwing stuff like this out there. What does Newsom's personal wealth have to do with anything? Why even mention that?

Rich people are evil. I thought that was common knowledge.

But Disney hates poor people.

Right. So Newsom = Disney (and > Rip Ride Rockit)

Well indeed. The Golden Voice, I believe.

ApolloAndy, you have to remember that Newsom basically has all the power in California. That Disney trip may have been an illegal gift, and it's illegal to accept gifts as governor.

Dude, what are you talking about? The question is “Should Disneyland reopen?” Not “what dirt can I attempt to dredge up on the governor because I’m mad that his administration won’t reopen Disneyland and I take that as a personal affront?”

And when you say “my roller coasters” I’m still not sure what you mean.
Is it like when I say “my salad bars” while not implying that I own a Golden Corral?
Or is something greater than just your hobby resting on this? Because strictly as enthusiasts we have very little to nothing to say about it. If you’re a Fortune 500 there in California (or Virginia or wherever you live) you might have better results throwing your weight around and calling out the governor.
Please. Give me a reason to listen to you.

I resembled that remark in high school. But it wasn't books about amusement parks and roller coasters.

And further, even as an enthusiast, I can live without riding a ****ing roller coaster for a year. The ****.

Pardon my asterisks.
