californa adventure:tips,suggestions

Due to ghostrider being closed on 9/11 I find myself instead going to californa adventure instead and was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions about the park. Thanks in advance.

Considering the low crowd levels for DCA, you should have no problem hitting all the rides, then repeating your favorites. Soarin' Over California gets the longest lines so do that first or fast pass for later (or better yet, do single rider line). California Screamin' is an enjoyable coaster with a great launch and smooth loop. The music element adds a lot as well. Get at least a couple rides on CS. I think Maliboomer is closed right now for maintenance. Mulholland Madness was closed when I was there, I wish I could have ridden this wild mouse. Grizzly Peak is a great water ride. Other than that, it's mostly movies and "A" ticket "attractions". If you haven't seen the 3D Muppets and It's Tough to be a Bug in Florida, do those, as well as the beautiful Animation exhibit. And don't forget your free tortilla. Have fun.
When I visited I was alone and was able to ride everything lots and lots of times. Use the single rider line for Soarin' if the ride is long. It cut my wait time from 1.5 hours to nothing. Same thing for the Grizzly Rapids, but that is something that you might want to ride with your friends/family. There was also a single rider line for Maliboomer that I abused, er I mean used frequently. But as already mentioned, you can EASILY do everything in a day with plenty of time for repeat rides. If Maliboomer and Mulholland are both down that would be a bummer, but they are common rides. Just give plenty of time to Califonia Screamin', it is a fantastic ride and one of the longest ride times especially for a launched coaster. You'll love the bunny hops towards the end. And by all means, don't forget the sun wheel, grab a moving car it's worth the additional wait. Most importantly, just have fun.

I just went to the DL and DCA labor day weekend and at DCA you should have no problem hitting all the rides multiple times. I disagree with the statement about California Screamin having the longest lines. The whole saturday I was there it was 5 minutes for any car. Soarin over California get the longest lines and using the single-rider line is a good idea. Also don't be afraid to use Fastpass. I used it throughout the day and thought it worked great. I got one for Soarin and then rode CA Screamin twice, A Bugs Life, Mailboomer, Mulholland Madness, and lots of the Paradise Pier flats. The I went back to Soarin and walked right on.

Grizzly River Run should not be missed, by far the best raft ride I've ridden. Also the park is very cool at night, especially Pardise Pier and its fun to ride California Screamin in the dark :).

Have fun.

Do you think it's really worth going? I mean theres not that many rides are there?

Would you rather go to DCA or nowhere? I had a great time even though I thought it looked small and didn't have many great rides. I think it got so many negative reviews becuase people were expecting to much of it. I went to Animal Kingdom opening year and was not impressed with the park at all. DCA has many more rides then Animal Kingdom did opening year. Give the park time, It will continue to grow and become better. Its definatly worth a visit and if you get bored you could always go ride Indy at DL.

Anyone know if they still offer the single day park hopper pass. My parents went last July and they had it then and if they still offer it how much does it cost. I am a little worried I might get bored with just californa. Great tips by the way thanks guys.

For the most part you can go throughout the day without a fastpass as it never really gets packed at DCA. I'd imagine you would just need it for Soarin, but then again it has Single Rider.

Don't forget Millionaire...simply the most addicting theme park attraction EVER!

"ok everyone go ahead and pull down on your shoulder restraint so you feel nice and stuck!"

Yes, you can get a park hopper pass, but I'm not sure of how much it costs.

If you go on a weekday, expect to ride everything with NO wait. The bad news is that you will most likely be bored and wanting to go to Disneyland after several hours.

I still would go with Knotts, even without Ghostrider. You still have Xcelerator, Supreme Scream, Monte and Perilous Plunge, not to mention to the smaller contributors like Log Ride or Calico Mine Ride. And by the way, you will walk on everything on a weekday or sunday.

CFM, Monte is back up and running?

Yes, for whatever reason it was down on Labor Day (leading me to believe that a rehab was starting), but apparently it was back up the next day. I just thought it was a little odd to have the train parked behind the station the way it was.

So, I would expect Monte to be up for your trip unless they decide to have more one day rehabs. ;)

We'll be there Sunday, and 'moosh will be too, even if he needs "restraints"...lol.
Are you sure you can get a single day park hopper pass CoasterFanMatt? When we bought our tickets they only had park hoppers for two day passes. Also you should go to a Who Wants To Be Millionare show if you like gameshows. I thought it was fun and I made the top-ten in points once.

Upon further review (courtesy of Disneyland.com) I can say with certainty that there are no 1 day parkhopper passports. For Voldermort, it might be worth it to buy the two day pass and do a little of each park per day.

And I agree about Who Wants to Be A Millionare. It is a lot of fun. I got into the hot seat once, which was really exciting. Its a whole new experience with the entire crowd watching you! BTW, I got to 125,000 points before losing. (There isn't much point in walking away if you aren't sure of an answer, since all you lose are a few pins, and there are a lot of cool prizes to be gained). I recieved several pins, a baseball hat and a polo shirt, plus a lanyard for the pins. Very fun. I highly reccomend the show.

Rollergator: I will be working at Knotts on Sunday evening, but due to the nature of my assignment that day, I will be all over the place! Will you be wearing any kind of coaster clothes so I can keep a look out for you or Mamoosh?

BTW, single rider can be used by your whole group, you just might get seperated, all you need to do is wait at the exit for a second. HAVE FUN!

See THE ULTIMATE in Orlando TR'S! Right now in the TR fourm!

Thanks for the tips guys but after weighing what each park had to offer I decided that even with ghostrider down knotts still offers more to me than californa.
