CAC03- New Visitors to Silverwood...

Hello All!,

I was just wondering, who of the other 44 have NOT been to Silverwood.

And, of those, who has never ridden Corkscrew?

My oldest (15.5) hasn't been to Silverwood, nor ridden Corkscrew. I bet him 5 bucks I would outlast him on the woodies in the night during ERT. (Think I should sucker him into a few dozen front row rides of Corkscrew to win my cash?)

Anyways! Pipe up if you have never been to SW before, and how early you plan to show up.

Two years ago, the ice show was a lot more fun then I expected!!! (a small show, but I'd go back)

This year, with the ERT, I'm riding the train. And, going to see if I can plaster the kids with water balloons... going to enjoy the rest of the park before getting my "fix".

However, both woodies ran EXCEPTIONALY well last time as the temps were high. I might have to check the weather report and find out if the temps will be high enough to provide the same experience.

21 days left to go, somone must be as excited as I am.

I am, and I'm not going to CAC proper. ;) Are you going to the rest of the weekends festivities? SFEV on Sunday, dinner with moi, and PNE on Monday? Hope so.. I'd sure like to meet.

I've never been to Silverwood but I already have the Corkscrew credit from when the coaster was at Knotts.

We're arriving in Spokane on Thurs 8/21 and spending two days at Silverwood [8/22, 8/23].

Oh, and the final tally was actually 49 people [which is still $25 each].

I'm extremely excited about my trip to Silverwood. I fly up to Seattle on the 19th, drive up through B.C. (catch a few hours at Playland:)) and then fly to Spokane the 23rd, Silverwood and the event on the 24th, and leave the 25th. I'm really adding some wood to the count.

I'll out marathon any of you! ;)

Hey Nasai,

What do you mean "NOT going to CAC proper"?

If we stopped at SFEV, what would the main goal there be, and how long did you plan to stay?

I have a WA CCP, and even without carry, have heard that some get a bit of hassle at the border. I also would have to contact my attorney to figure out what paperwork would be neede to take my kids, since I am in the process of finalizing my divorce. So, is PNE worth tackling these other hassles?

Goliath Kills - CAC is on the 23rd, not the 24th.

Sprig, most people are going to SFEV because they want the 3 credits there. For you or I it isn't that big of a deal, but the vast majority of people will be attending SFEV on Sunday of that weekend. PNE will be Monday as planned as well. Granted, others will have different schedules.

PNE is so worth any trouble you might face making a border crossing. Coaster is my personal (tied with Legend) #1, so I tend to hail it greatly. Their mouse is just insane, and their Vekoma Corkscrew is actually really good. Very smooth, and an interesting layout for a portable. They also have some great, powerful flats. Their S&S tower is big, with very strong air at the top, and their Magic Carpet is super heavy on the laterals.

For crossing the border, you need to bring ID in more than one form. For anyone coming, I highly recommend you bring a passport or birth certificate. They are becoming more lax, but risking it isn't smart when you have travelled so far. If you intend on claiming anything at the border, as Bassistist's pals did last year, assume you are adding an hour to your travel time, and you will piss off your driving partners as well. ;) I also suggest stopping at Safeway about 8 miles north of the border. They sell passes that get you into PNE for roughly $10 US. It can't be beat. PNE is the best value around, and the actual fair (I believe) is running that week as well, so there will be much more to do and ride.

It will be my first trip to Silverwood.

Which is in a way inexcusable since I don't live that far away. (5-6hrs.)

But I am making up for it this year by attending CaC03 in August, then the Wild Ones Coaster Club event there in September.

I am looking forward to meeting you folks.

Can't wait to spend some time at Silverwood.

Mark

I meant 23rd. lol At this point I sound like an idiot.

My first visit to Silverwood as well. Will arrive around noon Saturday; earlier if possible.

Just where has Syd been for the past two years?
I had a couple of points/questions. First off, the Mouse at PNE is kind of weak this year. It was running pretty slowly compared to the past. It's still the worst (or best) mouse coaster out there. Very scary. Corkscrew was pretty rough this year too. I'm not sure why. It's a great park though and the border isn't too bad if you have a birth certificate. I don't think you would have any problems with your kids Sprig. As long as you are their father, they won't say anything.

What time is everyone going to be at Enchanted Village on Sunday? I might make my way down there and hook up wit' y'all.

Aaron, I imagine we will get there 12-2ish. I live close by, but most of the people are driving in that morning, or flying in. I guess we should take a poll?

I'm new to this planet....and to Silverwood....VISITORS!

We'll be flying from Spokane to Sea-Tac about an hour or so before "Moosh's little group"...is THAT what he's calling it these days....;)

This will be my first time at Silverwood, as well.

Our motley group will be flying into Seattle on Friday and driving over on Saturday. Then we drive back on Sunday for SFEV, and then up to Vancouver on Monday, then fly back home out of Seattle on Tuesday.

Insane, I know...

That's decent mileage, but you will be fine Greg. You might be a little sore, but those parks aren't THAT far apart. :)
