Buying coaster parts

well.. not GREATEST. But pretty damned important. How could I get *actual* coaster paraphenalia (IE wheels, seats, worn out parts) from a park? do I just call up and ask, then pay shipping costs?

Texas Coasters... wow I'm lucky... IM me if you feel like talking about coasters.

Most of the replacement parts at the parks are very exspensive because they're designed to fit a specific coaster. I would........GOT ME ;)

The best advice that I myself can give you is to write to the park and sending a small fee (sarcasm???) to them for a weel. Six Flags will probably charge like $3,000 for a weel. HeHe

even one that's used?

He was joking about it costing 3,000 bucks for a wheel. I have no idea what their policy is on giving used parts away. However I'm sure they could do it, depending on how far out of their way they are willing to go to get you your wheel.

I don't think wheels would be too hard to get a hold of, but I am sure it will cost ya. You also probably have to ask the right person, or they will just think your crazy. A seat is probably going to cost you a small fortune and your not gonna get one as easily as a wheel. My suggestion is e-mail the park you are wanted a piece from and ask them.

that is, unless, they send parts out to be refurbished. I don't think it'd be too hard to replace the nylon on a wheel

If you really want parts, I doubt contacting the park is the best move.

Actually, the better place to obtain parts is at coaster related events/gatherings. Nearly every ACE event I have attended has had booths, or auctions or giveaways of some sort including various coaster parts/novelties.

But honestly, I am a bit baffled by people going ga-ga over parts to a coaster. Are they eventually hoping to collect enough pieces to build their own? ;-)

I do have some pieces of wood from various coasters that has been signed, but never understood the fascination of collecting nuts and bolts etc.

I recently contemplated purchasing a piece of a legendary coaster train. It would have been of great cost, and I nearly did it. But luckily common sense took over and I thought "What good would it do me to buy this thing? I could only look at it and dust it occasionally." Thus I decided the memory of the coaster would serve me just as well as owning this part.

After people paid $50+ plus for old Legend lap bars, I'm frankly not surprised by any need for parts!

I just thought it would be neat to take home some of my favorite ride.. I was interested after watching some show, where it wassaid they replaced wheels regularly. The ULTIMATE prize, however, would be a B&M hypercoaster easy chair...

Problem with seats is, on many coasters (especially wood) the "seat" is nothing more than a few pieces of sturdy foam bolted to a frame. Really you wouldn't be getting a seat, but black foam you'd have to set up yourself.

Sometimes you can find parts on ebay here is a link to a category for amusement parks.

I contacted Galaxyland at West Edmonton mall, and talked to the general manager of the park. After discussing the parks future attractions with him, I asked if for a donation to a charity of the parks choice I could have a piece of the Drop of doom. Well low and belold I now have a Bolt, metal plate that says Intamin, 1984, an inspection plate, some survalence tape of the last run, and some switches from the control panel.

Wheels on steel coasters are generally refurbished with new nylon or urethane tires. There are several companies that do this.

if you go through the gadv employee entrance you can see a train for a kiddie coaster and the old plane

Hey, you can buy a dark ride car for $800!

I know the CP wont sell you any old parts, even if they were just going to throw them away. I asked last summer and a few days later I got a letter from Monty and he said that its for legal reasons. I also tried the manufactors themselfs and I got an e-mail from all of them saying that if I wanted a wheel, then I would have to buy an entire coaster.
Do it Mark, buy the coaster! Let us all have free rides! ;)
