Carl Severino wants to combine the nostalgia of the old Idora Park with today's technology at a new park. Severino has been working for three years to build 2 Worlds Parks - Idora, and has land, but the project has not moved any further and he has no more money. Local authorities won't pay a for feasibility study.

Carl Severino had dozens of volunteers to help him at the Halloween Fright Fest this past October/November, so what did he do with the profits? He also runs a website that sells t-shirts and such. Many folks helped out for nothing is what he is now saying?!?!
Also, I have a bigger problem with people that have comments like Snap43 " it will be just a small park in Youngstown, Ohio, which is a dump", which is the most untrue garbage and the constant lies of outsiders who don't live in the Youngstown area, nor visit. As in every other city in America, the suburbs and outlying areas are where all the developing is. Snap43, I invite you to Rt.224 in Boardman Township 1/2 mile outside of Youngstown, and tell me what you see? I see 15-20 miles of non-stop shoppers delight, and concerts in more intimate settings, and more value for your money than anywhere in the USA. The problem we have in this area is there is too much of the same thing, and having a new Idora Park would be great to break the monotony.
I'm tired of hearing of people saying horrible things about the neighborhood you live and work in, yet they have the same thing in their back yard all across the USA. Youngstowns' bad personna is all media hype, cause they think we are a 'steel town' and that is an ancient myth. Small Business is the key to the Mahoning Valley, and that will bring more great things. We have minor league baseball affiliate of the Cleveland Indians for the 6th year, and have junior hockey, as well as a new arena coming with Arena Football 2 football and Philadelphia Phillies minor league affiliate EHL hockey coming. This is a great area, with problems that were resolved years ago, yet the 'outsider' national media doesn't publish the good news.
BTW, all those steel mills are now recycling centers for automobiles across the entire East Coast! Brings in more money than you'll ever dream of :)*** This post was edited by midwave 2/3/2004 1:28:55 AM ***
Hawaii isn't a good market for a park. Not only is the population small, but even the tourists aren't the right demographic. The joke at the resort I stayed at was that they're all "newlywed or mostly dead." Kids and families make up a very small percentage of the tourist base.
That said, the Volcano National Park (especially the lava tubes) provided plenty of excitement. Very cool stuff.
As for Idora, while the nostalgia buff in me would love to see it happen, how realistic is it, really? I'm afraid the dream is just that... :(
The point of the post remains: why build a park with so much competition nearby, when there are clearly areas of this and other countries that are underserved.
So before any of you ill informed people write anything about me please get the correct information!!! if you can!!!
