Busch Gardens Williamsburg Announces Its Holiday Gift to Thrill Seekers: New Attraction to Open May 2005

I think that the high price of IOA's Spiderman had R&D added, so the price paid for a similar ride may be much lower. I really doubt BGW could afford a $100 million ride.

I AM excited, but other than a new and unique storyline, what in the heck makes it any different from Spiderman?

What in the heck makes it any different from Spiderman? Its a different layout, and different theme, a different everything except the ride system. Even for the people who have ridden both its going to be a completely different experience.

If it comes anywhere close to being as good as Spiderman it will be fantastic, and although its going to constantly compared to its brother in Orlando, it would be nice if people could judge and critque the new ride as its own attraction, based on its own properties and pretensions. Once we've ridden it, of course.

Update-

BGW website has posted DarKastle construction Photos from a few week ago.

It is also been reported that the target date for opening is APril 30th.

It looks like it's coming along wonderfully! Great themeing job so far by BGW. SHould be one heck of a ride.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Harold and Kumar go to Dark Kastle ?

Maybe they will bob up in the ride.

Those trees are freekin' scary. I think I'm really going to like this ride, being a haunt enthusiast as well.

Very impressive! I wasn't planning on going to the park next year but that has just changed.

I hear it's a hybrid between Spiderman annd ToT.
Can't wait.
It's in NO way compariable to TOT, the drop sequence is SIMULATED...

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

how do you know that the drop is simulated?
A new video has been posted, you need Quicktime to view it.

A day at the park is what you make it!

I was under the impression that the drop was not simulated. Either way I will be visiting my favorite park this summer. Go on, bow down, it'll make you feel better.
Update-

BGW website has posted a DarKastle construction video of the recent progress centering on the 3D projectors...

Enjoy...

There's nothing more exciting than seeing two guys running a test grid (sorry, don't know the technical term for it) on the wall to focus the projector. The sound of power tools and views of scaffolding were particulary enthralling as well.
Well, I'm not that big of a fan of Thrillnerds.com, but they did just put up a REALLY nice construction video on Darkastle that answers a LOT of questions and show's A LOT of behind the scenes work. William (the person narrating the clip), is pretty annoying, but otherwise, it's really neat to see all that's done on the ride. Enjoy...
