Busch Gardens Tampa to give Gwazi the Rocky Mountain Construction treatment for 2020

Construction has already begun on what will be a wood and steel hybrid coaster, featuring a maximum height of more than 200 feet tall. The ride, manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction, will feature restored elements of Gwazi, the park announced. When it opens in 2020, it will be North America’s tallest hybrid, and also the fastest and steepest hybrid coaster in the world.

The loading process was awful. Because the belts were checked (slowly), then the lap bars lowered and checked (slowly), dispatches usually took about 7-8 minutes.

I can't speak to the effectiveness of the dueling aspect because, like I said, I never got a chance to experience Gwazi with both tracks operating, but others said that it was a lame novelty. It worked well on Dueling Dragons, but that's because the tracks came close to one another and there were no wooden handrails separating them.

I must be in the real minority here. Every time I ever went to ride Gwazi (on my few and far-between trips), both sides were operating no matter how slow the day. That said, the operations were every bit as dreadful as mentioned, but it was ok. I usually had my choice of seats and re-rides were plentiful.

I found the dueling aspect to be just ok- the fly bys were not very often and pretty much for nothing. I also didn’t feel the ride was all that rough, but I think one of my visits was shortly after a track renovation. I also thought it was spectacular to look at. From an aerial perspective it looked like miles and miles of impossibly intertwined track.

I thought it was better with the Millennium Flyer trains, but like the Wildcat(Hersheypark,) you have to sit up in the first 3 rows for it to not be rough. I'm all for wooden coaster preservation, but I'd love to see RMC redo the Wildcat. My wife won't ride it with me anymore.
