Busch Gardens near Kennywood?a Rumor?

Does anyone know if this is fact or fiction?
I heard from several other sites that Busch Gardens was planning on building a park near Pittsburgh,Pa.
Did anyone else here this and is there any truth to it?

Thanks..

I don't think it will ever happen. Kennywood is too much of a mainstay here in Pittsburgh, and boundless options are within a day trip (see my post on forum topic: "State with the most Buzzer's 2nd time.")

We don't have the population to warrant this, and with existing competition, it's very unnecessary. Besides, most life-long Pittsburghers take our home-town brands seriously, and Kennywood is right up there with H.J. Heinz and the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

There is a lot of expansion/redevelopment going on in Pgh now. currently the city could not draw the kind of crowd that Busch Gardens would want. but maybe in 10-15 years. We'll see how things go.

I say build a Busch Gardens in California, my home state. Of course, I'm greedy, so that's why I say it. ;) I think Busch should build more parks, or at least take a page from Six Flags and purchase one or two smaller parks and invest in their transformation to a Busch park. Just my opinion, it's just that most people on where I'm at can't get over to BGW and BGT regularly, if at all. They need a west coast base park also. Peace. :)

Medusa at Marine World: the best in the west!
Busch put in an early bid to manage Marine World when it was close to closing a few years ago. Of course the all powerful Six Flags ended up taking over the park, and the rest is...um...history ;)

I would love to see a BG in the San Diego area, far enough away from SFMM and near enough for me!!

Sim, what is wrong with Marine World's additions since being converted? Roar & Medusa ROCK!

How did this rumor travel from Pittsburgh to San Diego?
