MOST people love SheiKra the way it is...the turnstile clicks surprised me. I'd like to see the numbers, but I bet they doubled MY predicted attendance increase...so much for my progrnosticating, LOL.

Personally, I'd WAY prefer a halfway decent hyper, or even an Impulse. But I'm weird...

gator, chairman of the "MFlyers for Gwazi" committee... ;)

gator, sign me up for membership :). Any park that owns a GCI coaster runing PTCs should purchase the MFlyers! Heres hoping that the change for Sheikra gives BGT/A a big enough attendence bump that they consider doing it again with another of their coasters.

We're talking about Mantis getting floorless trains again? Didn't we discuss this last year? And the year before? And the year before that? And also in the year that was before that one?

Hah..Nate was right all along.
Another vote for a floorless Mantis. The layout is a nice layout with good pacing. It would be a geat floorless and much more confortable to ride. Floorless coasters stress freedom, stand ups are very confining.

How many GCI's run PTC's right now? Wildcat, Gwazi and Roar E.? Sure, I'll join the committee.

On the topic of SheiKra: Bill, you are simply wrong. SheiKra is awesome. Maybe it's one of those things where it loses it's novelty quickly (see TTD), but after riding it 14 times in one day, I was still sad to have to leave.

anyone have pics of the new trains?
This will be fun I suppose, haven't gotten on Shiekra yet, although I'm not sure this is necessary, seems to steel Griffon's thunder. As for Mantis, please leave it alone, it is fine as it is.
Shiekra was awesome this past December, and honestly, besides the view, I can't see the new trains changing the ride experiance much. I'm 6'1" and I couldn't touch the floor in the first row anyway.

Gwazi Tiger was the worst wooden coaster I've been on. Ever. Sign me up on that new train committee. I can't even begin to explain how bad that coaster was.

LOL Andy....simply *everyone* loves SheiKra...if that second holding brake trimmed the train to even 10-12mph, I'd be at the front of the line clamoring for more SheiKra. With the brakes LOCKING the train before the second drop, only the third row gets anything that even REMOTELY resembles a pop of ejector...so for me, as far as steel coasters go...

"I have ridden Intamins sir, and quite frankly, you are NO Intamin"... ;)

On the subject of wood-coaster trains...I like PTCs....a LOT. They're REALLY good trains. On more than half the wooden coasters out there, I might even say I *prefer* the PTCs. They allow for more floating/slamming...airtime. GCI, however, builds *Prior-Church-like* TWISTER layouts...those are best navigated by trains that are built specifically FOR that type of ride...

This is one I didn't believe when I first heard the rumor. But, it's pretty cool...I'm glad I was wrong :)
I think it'll take alot more than floorless trains to fix Mantis...
" Now if someone could just convince Cedar Point to give Mantis this treatment, all would be well with the world."

I'll sixth that. With floorless trains, I think the capacity would increase. There would be no more resetting seats eighteen times per load cycle.

I have to agree with others on why new trains? Floorless will not add anything to the ride when your feet already dangle.

I'm one of the few that do not like the ride. Sure, it is better than Oblivion. But not much. Still just a gimmick ride to me. Nothing thrilling about it. Just another new tame B&M IMO! I enjoyed watching it more than riding! The splashdown was really cool, though!

I also thought the ride was very tame. I don't believe the floorless trains will make a huge difference, they could of kust got rid of the railing and put a moving front rail in the station and give the ride the same basic effect. Going floorless will have almost no effect on rows 2 and 3 just like it doesn't on rows 2 through 8 on all other floorless coasters.
I say do it for the credits on Mantis, but for the most part i could care less. But again the Gwazi trains is a blessing, they need those trains, and shiekra it will be a nice change and proably make a scary ride scarier, but is this coaster work compensation for Python.
It IS a weird idea...was anybody thinking that Sheikra wasn't good enough the way it was? There's GOT to be something that we don't know about the existing trains...
I don't under why anyone dislikes Mantis's layout. I was all revved up thinking the whole ride sucked after reading this forum, but I actually couldn't believe how intense the layout(especially the second half) was. I think a Floorless train would be a nice addition and I hope CP looks into it as the coaster ages.
^ I also find the layout of Mantis to be VERY intense. So intense that if I'm in the front or back row of the train my legs are in pain during the second half of the ride due to lack of blood. Maybe my circulation is just really weak, but it seems intense to me. Standup trains aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be, and the GP does still seem to find them slightly interesting, so I really can't see CP spending tons of money on new trains (and really expensive station equipment) on a ride that has been there for so long and still receives decent rider throughput.
