Busch Gardens Africa - Promotions or Deals?

Kick The Sky's avatar

I am going to be in Tampa over the weekend and I thought about stopping in for a quick visit to Busch Gardens while in town. I was shocked to see the ticket prices there had gone way up since I was last there (last year).

Are there any special promotions going on right now that I can take advantage of like Coke cans or fast food discount coupons?

Thanks for any info.

Not sure I would call $6 ($61.95 --> 67.95) change in pricing "way up", but I suppose if you have a group of 4 it does add up.. Its been pretty much on par if not slightly below the other Florida big boys.

But to answer your question here are a few discounts:

Southwest:

Rapid Rewards Members may receive a 20% discount on a single-dayadmission. Members must showtheir Rapid Rewards membership card at the park ticket window at thetime of purchase in order to receive a discount (up to four admissionswith each card—valid for single-day admission tickets only, not validwith any other discount, special pricing or ticket/pass product).

2nd Visit FREE Promotion:

2nd Visit FREE isavailable to anyone with a valid paid admission. You can get oneadditional visit to Busch Gardens during regularly scheduled park hoursfor up to 7 consecutive days from the date of the first visit at noextra charge.

Parking not included. Must exchange valid paid admission on first visitto receive 2nd Visit FREE ticket. Non-transferable. Offer subject tochange without notice.

AAA Discount

Show your AAA card at the ticket booth and save $5 on single-day admission. Good for up to 6 people. Subject to change at any time.

7 Day Advance online purchase

And if you purchase 7 days in advance online, they have a "be a kid" promotion where tickets are $57.95.

You also cant go wrong with online booking.. its much faster (no waits in purchase line) and generally cheaper, though you cant use some of the above discounts with online booking.

Those are the ones im immediately aware of.. hope it helps.

Is it only 67.95? I called AAA this morning and they told me it had gone up to 72.99 and the best they could do for tix was five bucks off from that. That was why I was freaking out about the price :) Definitely going to miss the seven day promotion for paying kids price as I am probably going on Friday. I guess I will just give them my AAA card when I get to the park.

Thanks for the info!

It's 67.95. However, if you purchase tickets online, you can pay the child rate of 57.95.

Passholders get decent discounts on tickets...but there is NO way I can call in sick right after getting back from vacation. Make sure to get a lap on Scorpion (esp. with Laser going bye-bye)...

^Hey, don't scare the masses gator.

We don't need Scorpion, Mindbender, Shockwave, Greezed Lighting, Revolution, and Whizzer following suit. :)

Do you plan on visiting any of the other BEC parks in the next two years? I was just at BGE a couple months ago and bought a two-year platinum pass- used the payment plan for it too. It's only about $13.87 a month for the next two years.

TTD: Not sure if I will be or not. The weekend jaunt to Tampa was kind of a last minute thing.

Gator: You can bet that I will be power riding Scorpion as it is one of my favorite coasters in the park. I love Herr Achterbahn's loops!

Chitown: You only get the child rate if, and only if, you order at least seven days in advance. Kind of silly if you ask me as they are electronic tickets. As this is a last minute deal, no dice.

I don't want to scare the masses, but it's also important to note that ThrillVille has closed, taking out the one Anton in the States I never got to ride...got pics of it sitting there though. Hoping to get more Laser laps during a PPPotential upcoming trip.On a positive note re: Antons, Thriller aka Zonga is up and running again, in Mexico....like retiree snowbirds, Anton coasters just move South when they get older. :)

Scorpion is awesome...probably one of the few looping coasters I would truly call a "family" coaster. Believe it or not, it's just about my favorite coaster at BGA.

If that's the case with a 7 day advance purchase, once you get down here, go to a Publix grocery store. You should have no problem finding one as they are everywhere in Florida.

They usually have some type of discount for BGA tickets.

A $6 increase in a year seems like a lot to me. Maybe I am just spoiled with CF's and SF's season pass pricing.

I just hope they don't pull a Hercules and leave the ride SBNO until the end of the season. The dispatches are worse than ever this year, with maybe 12 trains an hour dispatching which makes even a 3 train wait around 15 minute and it will be interesting to see if crowds pick up for Haunt with Sunday's in October usually dead in 2006 and 2007
