Busch Entertainment generated $399 million in revenue during the second quarter, 4.2 percent less than the $416 million in sales in the 2008 second quarter. For the entire first half of the year, revenues fell 9 percent, to $580 million from $638 million.

What the hell are you even arguing about, Gonch? Did Ken piss in your Podcast Tent or something? You and I call out average schmoes for making stupid uninformed statements all of the time. How is this different?

It interested me that someone would get upset at a comment made by an anonymous schmoe on a message board. That's all. I was curious as to if there were park employees who really took it that seriously because the ones I've met shrug crap like that off.
Ken's comment sure didn't make it seem like his wife's take was casual or nonchalant.
And it's entirely different than calling out someone making a ridiculous claim because this anonymous schmoe didn't make any claim other than what he's seen. There was no claim other than reading an article about Busch doing poorly and combining that with personal experience and saying , "It's a shame it seems like they're doing bad."
And then Ken nailed him not once, but again with the whole "My comment was tame compared to my wife's" and that struck me as interesting. (odd?)
I wondered if park employees really take comments like that personally because I can't imagine giving it a second thought (as I try to think outside of my own realm :) )
I'm not the one who blew this out of proportion, I just asked a question and made a little wink-wink joke about the consequences of saying the wrong thing. (and perhaps worded it poorly and it came off as potentially aggressive when it wasn't meant to be)
I think it's nuts that someone can't read this article and see firsthand the parks that feel empty and say, "It's a shame the parks seems to be doing so poorly" without being told, "You're wrong! Oh yeah and another thing...my wife's response wasn't as tame as mine!"
To me that was the real agression in this thread and I questioned the response. I'd hate to think of what Ken's wife said about me. ;)
She said nothing about you. Sorry to let you down.
Perhaps my wording caused the misunderstanding but certainly any attack on someones spouse is never deemed as fair game. Least in my world.
Also, if you're going to quote one person correctly, I would say quote everyone correctly as well. I wasnt bluntly rude and said "You're wrong" as you so put. I said, I wasnt sure where he got that notion. To which I didnt know, so I called it out..
Its no different than the numerous times where you say, you disagree with someone or call someone out.
I turned and read it off to my wife and she added some more colorful remark but KNOWING her said the same thing really. But I admit now, that part I should have omitted and know not to do that again.. I will keep my comments my own, but if I see something incorrect, once again as you do, I will still continue to call out misinformation.
I really dont feel the need to explain any more on this.. And quite honestly she doesnt want to be a focus of this topic anymore.. Seriously..
I dont feel that comment needed to be policed any more than some of your responses to people over the ages needs to be.
If you wonder if park employees have problems with misinformation on blog/forums, ask them.. Some may not.. Some may.. Depends on the person, their roles and knowledge of the park, and the (false) information disseminated. Mileage may vary.
Not sure why its hard to grasp why people cant have issues with things you may not.

But this just isn't people. It's people who work for the park in more than a 'summer job' capacity. That's what I'm here for. I'm interested in the industry. The fact that someone from the industry had a strong opinion on a comment made here interested me. I'm not sorry for that - that's why I visit this site and participate.
You took it there. No one asked what your wife thought. I commented. You got defensive in my interest/joking about the reaction and I explained why it was interesting. I never asked for an explanation or anything. I asked a simple question.

I assure you, GreatBearHP. This conversation had very little to do with you.

It kind of happens a lot, GBHP, but mostly when the parks are closed.
...And I'm usually involved in it somehow. :)

Don't worry about it, Gonch. Even if he doesn't, there's still plenty of us left who do! :)

Seriously dude, don't flatter yourself. You have zero impact on the personalities that were here years before you.
