brighten your day

Alright so yesterday (may 12th) some friends and i went to cedar point and noticed how friendly the work crew was..they would always say hello or goodmorning EXCEPT for this guy operating the sky ride. he looked as if he wasnt enjoying himself so i told him to smile because it would brighten his day and he told me to brighten my own damn day! i just need to say that general friendliness is expected at a FAMILY park and come on theyre all cheery because its early in the season so why couldnt he be? hed only been working since last sunday....earnestly.

He actually said that?! I'd would have been tempted to go straight to the OPS office to report his behavior. If he's this way by the end of the first week he's not going to cut it. We all have bad days, but the need to put those feelings on the back burner while dealing with the public is mandatory.
Yeah, I was there with her, and he had a really bad attitude, I heard him say mean things to more than one person that day! He's not gonna make it far if he can't be around people that way.

I did it like this, I did it like that, I did it with a wiffle ball bat.. ohhh

Sometimes the best thing to do when someone is having a bad day is to leave them alone. You make a dumb comment and you're gonna get a dumber answer.

Every place has their share of dud workers. (some people that briefly worked with me... sheesh!) You would be doing CP a favor to help find that guy a new line of work, one NOT involved with customer service. In other words, get him outta there!

Yeah APForce but that is no way to act toward the public when your working at a family park. I can see him having a bad day but he didn't have to respond like that. One spoile vegtable spoils the rest.
True, you don't have to respond like that to a guest, but who knows just how bad his day had been -- speaking from experience, he could have had a dozen people tell him something similar that day, and the first week of working at CP can really be the roughest, when you're trying to decide if you really do want to put up with 3+ months. The best advice for employees: bite your tongue and *think* your response, but don't say it. Best advice for guests: it isn't you, just don't let one surly employee ruin your day. I'm certainly not defending him, but I can see the incident from his point of view.
